3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

You take that doom 2 home, add an octaver and an envelope filter, sprinkle on some bass whammy if you want a little spice, and baby... You've got a stew going

Edit: aw yeah, mine just shipped too! Hope it gets here in time for the synth player + drummer jam I'm going to on Saturday

Got my gray Doom 2 (#135) yesterday, as well as 2 faceplates for my older pedals. The faceplates look great. both of mine were #2/99.
Was there an announcement about the faceplate release (other than the list of upcoming releases on the website)? I didn't receive an email about this and I don't see them in the shop on the website.

There was a post on the website saying if you had a pending order and wanted faceplates, to email [email protected] Shortly thereafter, I got a response back giving me 2 color choices for each faceplate.

Ah, no pending orders for me :(
What were your color choices? Does that refer to the ink or to the enclosures aka do the faceplates match the older enclosure colors (hot-rolled steel, black oxide, and/or ghost nickel) or are they the 304 stainless steel of the new enclosures?

The faceplates are both stainless like the new enclosures. For Doom 2 there was one with white ink and one with black ink. For Octabvre there was an aqua/blue colorway and a magenta/blue. Sorry I don't have pics!

The gray on stainless looks great. I think this is my favorite look.

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to share this info. It's curious Spencer only offered the faceplates to those who had a pending order in the system since by their very nature the faceplates are for customers who already own older Doom 2s and Octabvre MKIIIs. Then again, many of Spencer's business decisions are curious.

The graphics fell off my 2020/2021 DOOM 2 and/or OCTABVRE MK3.

It was a tough time to be involved in manufacturing. A lot of smart people retired early and nobody took their place. Mistakes became the norm. I am making faceplates for the affected units. Current ETA is June. Join the newsletter.

Thank you, but I don't think you read what I wrote very closely. I receive the newsletter and well aware that June is the faceplate month. That's why I was so surprised to hear other folks had received faceplate: there was no newsletter announcement about it. Perhaps there still will be--after all, June isn't over yet :)

I did read what you wrote very closely and am still hoping that Spencer is good to his word. My Octabvre, purchased new, is one of the affected units.

FWIW, I placed an order in this last gray drop, I also had an affected octabvre and didn't get a faceplate. I had emailed years ago, and heard back about a replacement, but it still hasn't happened for me.

I emailed about a faceplate & about a repair multiple times over a few months. Ghosted. :meh:
I'm going to be optimistic here: to me this suggests there will be a wide release in the near future. My best guess is Spencer was aiming to save on shipping by combining [or bundling lol] replacement faceplates for those who purchased grey Doom 2s. It makes sense financially, though as ever it's an ... unconventional approach to business. It certainly leaves customers confused as to what's happening.

It leaves them in a….. shambles.
