3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

The hoops some of you go through to defend the guy is kind of astonishing.

I was rereading the whole saga about his glorification of Michael Fuller after the closure of Fulltone and couldn’t believe people were saying Spencer probably wasn’t aware of Fuller’s derogatory comments about the George Floyd protests…

Spencer has “repeatedly voiced frustration” — not that it means anything — but I can’t believe he’s stupid enough to believe his proposed solutions are actual solutions.

The preorder solution won’t lower used prices. It only gives a better chance for people with more wealth to give Spencer more money. And it’ll make it worse for the rest of us, the plebe — now we’ll fight over 40 pedals instead of 111 or 333.

Used prices will eventually go down, but not because of his “genius” solutions, but because the influencers like Janek and Ian and, to a lesser degree, Tim, will move on; because as technology gets better and cheaper and more convenient more of us will become… what was it, cheap imitations of musicians; and people will get tired of his shenanigans.

There are much more obvious ways to fix the “problem” — waiting lists like Noble and King of Tone, collaborate with another company, like Analogman did with Chasebliss, etc.

God forbid he fixes the problem by hiring one other person to build the pedals alongside himself.

If you think about it....if he manages to pre-sell all his pedals, he's effectively increased his prices by 30+% without changing a single thing about the pedal.
He essentially put out his pedal with a big price increase and is seeing demand only dropped some small degree. With how fast his prior drops would sell out, any marketing person would have told him it means he's been underpricing his pedals for years.

Early investors rejoice! Our stock is going up!

But as long as people are willing to pay that price, isn't that fair? We're talking about a luxury item, essentially. Nobody is suffering by not having one.

definitely. demand and supply. I have no issue with him increasing prices that way. it's really his perogative. And I'm guessing the demand for his pedals is still very high so i expect the pre-order to be fully taken up.
