I have both, started with a Proton but found it not too easy to dial in with my basses, plus it inverts the phase of the signal so it didn't work in my effects blend loop. So I bought the Wonderlove and am happier with the tweakability, even if it too is a bit tricky to dial in. A big plus is the effects loop that means the filter settings are not affected by other effects you combine with it; if you engage a pedal in front of the Proton you may have to adjust the filter settings because the pedal changes the levels.
I bought a new model Proton two weeks ago to use in the loop of my Xotix X-Blender together with a Boss OC-2 Octaver and I have phase problems!!! I can use the phase inversion button of the X-Blender, but then the octaver gets messed up. What's up with this?
I love the sound of the Proton, but I bought it to be used in this setup and it doesn't work. :-(
Any idea what causes this?

The phase issue is with the clean blend? You could get a blender with more channels that can be inverted and use one for a clean but inverted signal. hat way you could have the channel where the Proton/OC2 reside in normal phase and the clean inverted.
 
I think the issue here is that having both a non-inverting and an inverting pedal in the same blend loop will be problematic if you sometimes want to use the blend with any of the pedals separately. You need to change the phase of the loop depending on which pedals are activated. Even worse if you need to switch only one pedal in the loop on and off during a song.

It's just a mess dealing with phase in blend loops ... which is why my solution to the Proton switching phase was to buy the Wonderlove.

Nothing much you can do about it, the Proton won't work the way you want to use it. I tried the exact same blending idea and it's a no go.

Many pedal designs invert the signal phase. Why they don't correct this is probably just a matter of not wanting to add extra components to the circuit, because of cost or space or both.

Its not really a design flaw. For a lot of audio applications, phase inversion doesn't matter. It's only when you want to combine audio modules with different phase treatment and mix their output that you'll have an issue.

To really solve your problem (OC2+proton separately switchable in a blend loop) you need to address the proton's phase inversion at source. Either add an inverting buffer inside the proton pedal itself (not something most people could do) or swap the proton for another EF that doesn't invert. OR you could (and this is getting messy and expensive) buy another looper pedal that does phase inversion (e.g. OneControl do a tiny one) and keep the proton permanently on in the loop of that and using the OneControl to switch it on and off. That would probably work, depending on where exactly they (OneControl) invert the phase.
 
Thank you guys, for your help and comments. Before I bought the Proton, I was trying to deside between the Proton and Wonderlove. I really believe a customer should be warned in advance for this phase issue! There must be more and more people (I see this around me) who start using pedalboards in combination with parallel/blend loops. Especially when a pedal like this has no blend of its own. I'm thinking of exchanging the Proton for a Wonderlove now. I hope 'bassdirect.uk' will agree to this since I have the Proton only for three weeks...
