3XFX Fatman

Oh and some niggles:
1) Maybe the fatman is too fat... looks cool as hell, but slapping it on a pedal board makes it TALL TALL TALL. A little hard on the ankle at that angle!
2) The space between the two footswitches is a hair narrow when I'm wearing some big ol' boots. If I were going to lay it out for myself I'd probably put both switches on one side (just close enough so you could stomp both at the same time) and put the sensor on the edge.
3) With the photosensor I think I'd prefer if fully exposed were high pitched, and fully covered was low pitched. If the maker were to tell me this was a matter of swapping two wires or something, I'd probably do it.
4) Some kind of notch, indicator or other way to tell where the knobs are actually at (at a glance) would be nice. Things get twisted moved around, and it's not easy to tell where things are set via a quick visual inspection.

it sure is tall, but i'm not immediately put off by its hugeness. it might aggrevate me in the future, though... time will tell. (looking at the interior, it doesn't look like it would be too much trouble to re-house the thing. it seems there's enough space. the thing does look reaaallly cool as is, though. :))

this is one thing we can definitely agree on. it's not the worst thing in the world to me (i don't wear big ol' s**tkickers :D), but a little more space between the two switches would be nice, or a layout like the one you suggest.

i'm into it. the noizyness is very cool, and i don't think i'd want to change anything about it other than what you said. but if it can't be changed, i'm alright with that.

i was actually thinking of replacing the knobs for this reason. or marking the pedal/knobs in some way to indicate my favorite setting(s). in fact, i think i'll put a little piece of yellow marker tape on the knobs and use the top of the pedal as the reference point (ie, when the yellow marker is pointing up, that's my setting). things may get a little complicated if i want to switch the settings around, but i'll fry that egg when i'm ready for breakfast. (what?)

Fooling around enough that I'm ready for a Link Removed.

Refined version of the same lick with another part added on. Added a drum machine to keep me in time!

Starts with "Lead Mode"
Switches to "Rhythm Mode" and then back and forth between the two after the change.

You know this hasn't been mentioned in our chit-chat, but I've noticed that my fatman really likes a HOT single. Both of my basses are passive and when in "lead" mode the oscillator they are actually overpowered. I've been using the clean-gain on my hematoma to boost the single into it. Do you experiance this as well jetpack?

hey grygrx!

did you ever get a reply about your niggles?

Yep

Thanks for the kind words, and I appreciate the feedback. I am not sure how easy it would be to flip the photo-cell pitch control, but it is something I'll look into. AS far as the layout, that is always a challenge. There are a lot of different enclosure options available, but few are as cost effective. I will definitely do some exploring though. I will keep you update on any new projects in the works. Thanks again!
