4x10 + 2x10...?

So I've been trying to find a non-ported 6x10 for a while and the only thing I come across is the Bergantino ones (which are discontinued and expensive).

The only solution I came up with thus far is combining a 2x10 with a 4x10. I would go with an 8x10 because that's my favorite sound with my amp. But I don't have the room for that right now, but I could split up the former for enough space. I figured that would be the closest thing tonally.

I was thinking of getting a Ampeg 410HE and finding a 210HE to go with it. The only thing is, I don't know if they are compatible with my amp. I'm using an SVT-CL which is 300 watts, but the 210HE says it handles 200 watts. This might be a stupid question (still don't have a firm grasp on this stuff) but does the 300w have to go to each cab, or is it for the whole rig?

Thoughts? Alternatives?

You want to look at the power distribution per woofer, rather than per cab.

If the woofers are all identical, a 4-ohm 410 would combine well with an 8-ohm 210, assuming your amp is happy with the resulting 2.7-ohm load.

If the woofers in the 210 can each handle twice the power of the woofers in the 410, then both cabs can have the same impedance and you just need to be sure your amp is happy with the resulting load.

You can still combine a 210 and 410 of the same impedance even if the 410 cab has twice the power handling, but you need to be careful because the 210's woofers will be the limiting factor, and their cries of distress may be drowned out by the louder cab.

The two I'm looking at are both 8ohm:

So if I understand correctly this wouldn't work because power would be distributed unevenly, right?

If you're pushing them hard, yes the 210 cab would be in danger because each of its woofers would be getting twice the power of the other woofers.

However you're using a 300 watt amp, so each cab would see half of that, or 150 watts. The 210 is rated at 200 watts, so I think you're safe.

Too much emphasis on wattage. The SVT Cl is rated at 300 watts, yes, but capable of much more than that. The 410/210 combination is less than ideal, as said, the 210 gets double the power per spkr vs the 410. I would consider another set-up, maybe a pair of 2x12 cabs instead.
