4x10 + 4x10, or 4x10 + 1x15???

I've played 4x10's with a 1x15 before. Just recently tried my Hydrive 410 with a Hydrive 115 with my LH1000 head. Good enough for Wooten right?

Wrong. Awful. Never again.

Paired it with another Hydrive 410 and there it was. The match maker.

Right, they have. As far as I understand and remember, mismatching drivers is bad because of:
1) SPL/Watt difference
2) phase issues

Well, I might be wrong but I guess crossover won't do anything good do the latter.

Correct, you are wrong.

Phase issues are exactly what is corrected by using a driver designed for a specific frequency range with a properly designed crossover and not allowing multiple non identical drivers to reproduce the same frequencies which can interact oddly out in the room.

Probably - the try one = buy rate on these cabs is high. That said - see if you can find a way to keep your $ in your pocket until you get a chance to try one. There is a user map at the bottom of the greenboy forum and lots of users are happy to let tire kickers drop by for a beer and a little bass playing.

I sometimes use my 210 and 115 together but it's not my first choice to do it that way.

there is no particular reason to think a 15 inch speaker will dig deeper than a 10. In fact, in the GK Neo line, the 410 goes almost an octave deeper than the 115 (or 112, 212, or 210). A lot depends on the cabinet. FWIW, to my ears, in the MB series the 115 has crisper/more forward mids (you might say woodier) than the 210.

Here's an easy way to compare cone areas. The numbers are only approximate, but that it is ok since the point is to only compare. First, instead of using the math for computing cone area, let's just use square area (not circular). It's just for simplication, ok? Say, a 10-inch is 10x10 = 100. Likewise, it follows that 12x12 = 144, and 15x15 = 225. So then, a 4x10 = 400. It is easy to see how a 115 is a poor companion for a 410, being that you'd be giving an even wattage value to two speaker cabs that are disproportionate to one another. The 15 will strain before the 410 begins to. Of course, this speaks nothing of displacemant volume as an additional factor (some super speakers these days can push more air and have extremely long excursion travel). Like I said, it is only a way to compare.

I think my Markbass cabs are like that, too. My Traveler 151P has a mid thing going on that my 121H doesn't. I actually like the sound of the 121H better, but of course it can't do all that the 151P can.

I have an OLD 1x18 cab and a Tour 700, I've just found an old 4X12 cab that also has the metal frame which is the cover!

Does anyone know if a 1x18 plus a 4x12 will work and sound big and mighty, or shoulf i stick to my 1x18 and tvx410?? Was even thinking of maybe 2 x 410s together??

Easy: Try and get the combination you like best.

Always the best advice. I've used matched and unmatched cab sets. Some good, some not so much. My current passion is a 212 on top of a 115 that's loaded with an Eminence 3015LF. Each has its own strengths to bring to the table and it's the best-sounding stack I've played in many years.
