Okay, so what I did was dry sand with 800 grit, then wet sand with 1000 grit, wipe with naphtha, then I very lightly and slowly rubbed Swirl remover over it until it started to dry, then wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. It seemed to work good. It's probably somewhere between semi-gloss and satin, more on the semi-gloss side. Waiting to see what he thinks.

Marble looks pretty on close inspection because of the very fine granular crystalline matrix.

Pound the turquoise into dust, it will still sparkle and it will look like it was "supposed" to be there, not tossed in after the fact.

I think powdered will look very good as opposed to trying to fit pieces into the voids but it's all just personal preferences as to what looks better.Once again you've inspired me,I've got quite a bit of Australian Opal rough,,black,white and crystal and now I'm thinking about trying some for an inlay! Thanks!

I actually think a combo of both would appeal more to me. A powdered base with larger pieces suspended in it. The pieces add a really nice esthetic regardless. That wood is lovely and if your other builds are any indication this will be a work of art.

The thing that I like about the bigger chunks is that they just really stand out against the dark background of the bark pockets, but some of them look good and some of them don't for some reason, so I guess at least the powder should be a lot more consistent.

I like the contrast of dark/turquoise fragments - it looks mysterious

A small update: I had to get some new fretwire for my guitar and happened to decide on the same fretwire as will be used on this bass, so I put through the order for the LMII package for the bass too.

Yeah, I'm not sure what radius it's bent too, it used to say on their site. I'll measure it when I get a chance.

Oh no! Maybe if you contact them soon enough they can add it on before they ship.

They cut a fret slot where the edge of the nut slot goes and I just have to cut the rest of the nut slot.
