5-string P-Basses?

I can only find American Standard Fenders and those weird Schecter Diamond Ps. I like P-Basses (as many of you know, haha) and I'm looking for a 5 string, so I've decided to try to find one.
Help a brotha out?
Budget is up to $900 now. =]

I'm not a fan of Schecters, and that big humbucker in the bridge kinda bugs me.

Lull makes a great P but I think the 5 strings are 35 inch scale.
Lakland also makes a 5 string P, I believe they call it the 55-64, skyline version is within your budget.

Get a used Fender American Deluxe Precision V. They're out there, and they're excellent. Here's Invalid Link Removed demoing one. They sound substantially better than this, though.

By ALL means check out the MTD CRB.
I have the 5 string and its all I play these days out of my 20+ collection.
The damn thing sounds amazing, has zero dead spots and plays better in tune than anything else I own at any price.
The stock pickup is great, has alnico magnets and cloth wrapped wire.
I just added the Duncan Blackout stack pot 2 band preamp and a pull bypass volume control and it sounds great.
The bass is versatile and covers just about everything I need in any setting.
I got mine from AMS and they have been really good to deal with.

The bassist of a band I play in (where I only sometimes play bass) has likewise been looking for a 5'er P or P/J. He was gonna get a Squier, but picked up a G&L. I played it last night. It sounded pretty good, but damn - the thing was a boat. Bulky neck and very heavy, by my standards. It may be OK for you, but I would suggesting playing before you buy.

Can you do Warmoth P5 with that budget? EDIT - yes, yes you can. I'd do that.

Pickings are pretty slim.

I have a Yamaha 415 and it's great, so I'd definitely recommend that. The Fender P-5 runs I think $1200 or so new, you might be able to find a used one in your budget. The G&L 2500 will do the trick nicely. I haven't tried the Schecter. There's another I'd like to try but haven't yet, Luna's Paz Lenchantin signature. I think the fiver version runs about $600 new.

The Yamaha is so inexpensive that doing a Blend pot mod is really a no-brainer, if that's what suits you. A $10 pot and some soldering and you're done. You could probably even re-use the hole that the switch is in so it could be put back to stock with no sign it was ever modded, if you ever wanted to.

I bought one of these recently for under $500. Very punchy and warm, and I liked the different look too.
