that one is a straight bladed one, you can get ones that are either concave or... unconcave? i know theres a word for it..

"convex" is what you're looking for.

One question; What sort of fret sawing setup did you use? Did you make a jig? Use a SM mitre box? Framing square and eyeballs?

I am at a bit of a stand still because I cannot decide how to proceed through this phase.

If you could share a pic or two of your fret slotting process, I'd sure appreciate it!

Great looking bass, man!

I had no special setup for the fret slotting.
I've marked the lines with a pencil and then cut them using the SM 0.023 saw.
Doing it this way enforces a lot of strain on the elbow, especially because the saw works best with pull strokes and you have to keep it aligned.

For the fretboard radius I've used the 16" block sold by stewmac.
Since it's not wide enough for a 5 string neck, I clamped (with two clamps at the middle!) and glued a piece of 8mm maple. (That thickness allowed it to bend without breaking, and still be strong).

That bass is bad ass. I'll be attempting to build a bass this summer. Warrior or Skjold type styling is what I was going to bass it on. Great looking bass man!
