What kind of load do Traynor amps want to see?

The Traynor YB-1 and the later YB-1A both had 8ohm transformer taps.

The Traynor YBA-3 Custom Special had a 4ohm output

and then the YBA-3A Super Custom Special had a switch for 4ohms and 2ohms

Those YBA-3 amps used a quad of EL509 tubes and pumped out a healthy 250 watts.

Not to bad for 1968....... ehhh

The cool thing about it really is that it is the exact same model my parents had when I started on guitar, and this kind of a tube radio was my only amplification for guitar all through my teens. I had an electric I made myself out of scratch, too bad that one is gone, as is the original radio.

My first bass amp was the tuner/amp section taken from an old console "Hi-Fi" unit that a friend of my parents was throwing out. I built a head cabinet for it and paired that with a make-shift enclosure I found at the curb on garbage day that I installed a couple 12 in. speaker in (from the same console).

I've owned a number of old "Hi-Fi" amps over the years...Eico, Heathkit, etc. but alas, they're all gone.

Head's up, Valve Jr owners - I put a Link Removed in my head (replacing the Tung-Sol that blew out after 6 months' use); good tight bass, and mid-growl for DAYS! A huge improvement over the Tung-Sol, which I was pretty happy with...until it blew out and stuff.

AHA! I can FINALLY join this club officially. My Sunn 2000s may not have been able to get me in, but my newly acquired Sunn 200s sure will! My apologies, I don't have a camera, but it's pretty darned clean, RCA 6550s in it, have to have the two prong replaced at some point, as well as all the original caps it still has. 60Ws of AWESOME.

I will post pics after it arrives, it's a Univox U-1011, 10 tubes in it and it is actually 105 watts (close enough), American made, circa 1971.

i have several that fit into the '50-100 watt all tube category' (i.e ampegs, sunns etc), but here's a pic of my current favorite:

A bit smaller, 40 W. One of the four channels has a pad. Works like a charm, and did not cost an arm or a leg.

This will be something to experiment with - e.g. running the wet signal off effects to their own tone circuits.

This is my Super Awesome 100W Tube head.

I actually sold it 2 years ago and re-acquired it via craigslist yesterday.

It started out life as a Bugera 1960, but, I had it modded to Super Bass Specs shortly before I sold it.

One of the best sounding amps I've owned and I've had a LOT of big tube heads.

I've got three under the 100 watt range. They all sound great and surprisingly loud with the right cab/bass.

Twin Reverb
Sound City B100
Sunn Sorado
(Univox is 140 watts. Womp)
