I love the look of the Buckeye Burl #1, especially with the Ebony board. To my eye, it'd result in the most "individual" look.

That said, amboynia is gorgeous - this was the 'amboyna burl' on my old ACG Harlot.

I'm not at all surprised that ACG came up in this thread: Alan Cringean's wood is some of the most gorgeous I've ever seen, and those finished Devon guitars immediately reminded me of ACGs.

Bob, my old Harlot was a relatively early one and Alan really pulled out all the stops. The woods were amazing.

The back was even better than the front, mixing flamed sycamore and mahogany on the back with a flamed maple neck. Maccassar ebony stringers in the neck complimented a Maccassar ebony cap on the back of the headstock. It was really something else.

The Cocobolo looks like a bird's face to me... the dark knots being eyes and the light color in the middle being a beak. It's what I voted for, but I also can't help thinking a bass like that would always be looking at me (or the audience, which is even cooler).

That's the most beautiful piece of redwood I've ever seen so I picked that one. Having said that, the cocobolo, amboynia, and buckeye 1 are all pretty amazing.

Those are all gorgeous tops. I liked the Cocobolo the most because it's just an amazing cut of that.

I like buckeye burl #2. I tend to dig on multicolored woods though. It's quite aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.

I voted for Cocobolo but it was a difficult choice between that and Flamed Redwood.

I'd def go with the flamed redwood...seriously beautiful. I'd buy another USA Cirrus if I could find a 4 in that. Runner-up would be the cocobolo.

I am not, and never have been, a fan of "Busy" looking wood; but that's just me. If it were going to be mine, and those were the choices I HAD to pick from? I agree with beatlebass64; the flamed redwood, by a mile. The Cocobolo would be a reasonably close second, but the others? Uhh... sorry, but no; just no...

I particularly like the look of the redwood and burl.

That is a great piece of flamed redwood.... Someday I'd like a redwood bass myself!

I voted for the burl however.... Just something hits me about that pattern.

I would suggest getting a 4-string with the Redwood, and a 5-string with the Cocobolo, and a 6-string with the black and white burl. That way you have all your basses covered. Then your challenge will be choosing the pickup and electronics options for each one, and you won't have to stress about which wood to choose.
