How do you all feel about the relative tension issue?
When I started on 6-string bass, I was already into BT, and with the 6'er it seemed even more pertinent. My current C-string, if I remember right is a .28 D'Addario NYXL, balanced in tension with all the others. The C-string on the bass when I bought it was , to my taste, far too tight.
Despite the smaller than standard gauge , the high C still speaks the loudest.
I've been back into my 4-string P/J lately, and just getting into dialing in the 6'er again. It is the Ibanez SR506.

I have balanced Kalium's on my Douglas (well, technically it's my son's bass now) and IME & IMO balanced tension is the only way to go.
Where it really stood out to me was in performances, where the energy level is higher, my E string would seem to turn into a rubber band. I had no idea the E was, as a standard, much less tension than the other strings.
I did lighten up the B slightly in my current 6-string set, from .130 to .125, just to see if I like how it speaks better.
I used to use a .150 B on my 34" scale custom fiver, but went down to a .142. I'm using Kalium's hybrid stainless set and I really like these strings. Their longevity has been beyond expectation. I think the E string gauges for those two sets are .112 and .106, respectively.
The added tension helps with sustain and body, and playability also benefits. I detuned a Conklin GT-7 I owned briefly (it had 'normal' unbalanced strings) down to F#-C and although the strings were loose it sounded just fine, would have been great for tapping.

I use La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass Flats on my Ibanez SRC6. It's a 6 string based on SR series also (just as your GVB), but mine is a Bass VI breed, so the tuning is E1 to E3 and it's a short scale. These strings sound thumpy since the very beginning I put them on. Very different from Chromes that I have on my other SR series basses, which are quite bright sounding for flatwound type of strings.
Had them on a 5 and they were fine.
I just took off (most of) a set of D'Addario HalfRound from my Roscoe fretless 6 and replaced them with Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats.
Mostly I like the Cobalt Flats better, but for some reason Ernie Ball can't figure out how to make a 0.030" string so I had to leave on the D'Addario C - which frankly doesn't get much use in my playing anyway and the difference is not much.
I've use a 6-string set of D'Addario tapes on my fretted 7 - with a Kalium 0.020" F. They sounded OK as well - I needed a 'PBass with flats' vibe for a particular project and they got me there...
Ok thanks. I read Thundercat uses them? I like the sound he has. But he has a hollow bass. So that is different anyway. This set is fairly expensive though.

They are quite unusual gauges: .029 .049 .069 .089 .109 .128T (instead of more common gauges in the middle on the 760FS-CB set: .029 .045 .065 .085 .105 .128T)

Hi all, I actually play mainly 6 string basses, my current family is composed of: Ibanez SR506, Ibanez GSR256 (with some tweaks) and Peavey Fury VI.

Oh, and I don’t really join clubs, but I’ve used sixes for the majority of my playing life. My latest on is a 33” scale with 17mm spacing and a 2” nut. Comfiest six I’ve played.
