$67 Glarry P-Bass

I have not surfed these ads in awhile, but as I recall, originally "burning fire" is what usually is called "sunburst." It is a finish descriptor, not a brand. Given the adventures of cultural biases and translation anomalies in the sales blurbs for these basses, the only data points I pay any attention to are price and weight. 3200g or below is good to go for me.

On a slight derail, I now have had my batch about twenty-one months and have been doing set-ups on them in sequence, and some of their "flaws" have become apparent.

Treble-side fret sprout (red Glarry)
Broken nut (blond Glarry, but this did not happen until after I had owned the bass for well over a year)
Climate-sensitive necks (except for Crescent and Irin, which appear to have thicker finishes on their necks)
Non-uniform pickup output across the lot (but I count this as one of their charms since it makes them not "all exactly alike")
Soft finish, even on the neck plate, that scratches easily (but for those preferring the relic/roadworn look, this might be a plus)

No problems with bridges (other than bottoming out without a neck shim), tuners, or electronics, which for me for a sub-$75 bass counts as a win.

Is there a difference between the $54 one and the $67 one?

They seem to be the same brand "Burning Fire". The $67 one has "Glarry" on the headstock. The headstock on the $54 one is blank.

That is the only difference as far as I can tell. The $54 one has nothing on the headstock.

Is that the only difference? Does anyone know?
I bought the blank head stocked ones and have been well-pleased.

This is a gray area. I have a blank-faced blueburst that I would at worst rate as equal to a Squier Affinity; but I also have a blank-faced, transparent-finished, highly-grained wood bass that unplugged is arguably the best of my lot. Certainly the loudest. And they are from different sources; the blueburst headstock is slightly downsized.

Not a Glarry but I bought a P bass kit (that might well have come out of the same factory). The body is crazy light which causes considerable neck dive if used on a strap, unplugged it is very loud.

It has been my home practice bass for the last year because it is loud enough not to need plugging in.

So I too looked at these basses and I saw everything on their website was not available? Can you not get them directly from them? Or do you have to go through eBay? Thanks Rts

I have seen this as well, and it is not a new practice. Most of mine, ordered middish 2017, arrived within a week; but one I had to wait a month for, and it was the most expensive one of the lot: a Crescent red sunburst that I thought was worth the wait.

What I *think* happens is this: all the colors are batch-ordered at once and shipped from an overseas factory to a U.S. distribution warehouse, from which they are shipped individually to purchasers. But some colors sell out more quickly than others; and rather than replace single colors piecemeal the distributors simply wait until the entire inventory goes down enough to make another batch order.

thanks I got an email from customer service they should be in tomorrow.

This thread proves that you guys will buy ANYTHING as long as it looks like a P-Bass.
ha ha ha I am working with a kid who can't even afford this one and I am going to let him use it when he comes for lessons :) I am going to mod it and get in set up best I can. I may gig it if it gets to that stage :)

They must be selling fast, at least from the Glarry site. I couldn't order one immediately because they weren't in stock so I checked the "alert me on arrival" box on their website. Received an email from them Saturday that they were in, sat down sunday night to order and they were out again. That was quick.
