J-bass single coil pickups inherently pick up 60 hz line hum, but if your Strat doesn’t hum, it’s probably shielded better. At this price point, I’m surprised if the Glarry J-bass is shielded at all. There are a lot of threads about shielding. If you pull the pickguard and control plate and there’s no conductive paint or copper/aluminum shielding, it’s probably worthwhile doing that. Not difficult or costly, and you’ll be happier with the instrument. The P’s pickup is humbucking, so I’m not hearing the same issues.
As I said in an earlier post, a leather strap solved the (IMO) minor neck dive problem for me. A polypropylene Ernie Ball-type strap would have accentuated the problem.
As Kenny Puckett once said, “There ain’t nothin’ that’s Dead Solid Perfect.” Especially for 68 bucks. But I can fix the minor problems for little or no cost.
