'70s Fender Precision love

My 74 mocha:

I have owned nine '70s Ps (still have five of them) from throughout the decade, and it's my experience that the weight of *some* '70s basses is the biggest potential drawback. Two of my '70s Ps -- a '75 mocha with maple and a stripped rosewood '79, both wearing Fender flats -- are my main gigging basses, and they play and sound great.

I would add that the year of manufacture isn't always a predictor of quality. The heaviest and worst-sounding of my lot were a '73 and a '78, both of which are no longer mine. But I have another '73 and a '79 that are great. Go figure.

HI, re the 'TV logo', I've got a MIJ 70s RI with that logo (in my avatar). I love it too, to the point where I'd be swayed on which p-bass to buy (superficial I know, but can't help it!).

I haven't heard it called the TV logo before - I thought it was the 'waterslide', or is that the later 70s one with the sans-serif typeface?

Waterslide is just another name for decals in general. It is a type of decal that is applied with water as it already has glue (water-based) on it. Also a ride in an amusement park... :)
