I'd like to know if there are any people out there that have tried a bunch of the 810 cabinets on the market? I've used the Ampeg 810E and love the punch and bottom but wonder if there are cabinets that maintain that but deliver a bit more warmth and fidelity? Fender maybe?

Isn't that an oxymoron? More warmth and more fidelity? What head are you using? I find most of what your talking about is dependent on the head more than the cabs.

is a 6x10, by Mr. Jim Bergantino. Smaller, shallower, lighter, and better than all the 8x10's I've tried, including several different Ampeg model, a Fender, a Genz-Benz, and others. And his 2x15+6 is outstanding, as well.
Ask TB member named Cripula...he's got a collection of old Ampegs and the cabs as well...he really knows his stuff when it comes to this...

I've played through a large number of 8X10s over the years...and the Heritage 8X10 is far and away the best one I've used in a L O N G time...I'm very happy with it..

Not in my experience...a pair of 410's sounds nothing like an 810.
This is not a brand you would normally associate with 810 cabs, but Carvin makes a great one that's about 50 pounds lighter than Ampeg's and half the cost. I've owned 2 and will almost certainly own a 3rd before I'm dead (it's a long story, don't ask!)
Quite like my Marshall VBC810.
Bit heavier built than the ampeg, nice diamond plate kick plates and corners on the back. Flip out handle on the underside.
Similar sounding to the Ampeg, bit less middy tho.

unbelievably loud and chest caving cab.
but the db810's booty isnt nearly as satisfying as an aguilar gs412. its still the tops on my list of "supremely loud, deep, fat, richter scale registering, single cab solution". another awesome cab if you're willing to hire the help, pay the union scale or lift the weights, drink the myoplex.
Try these, and see how they sound to your ears: Carvin, or used Markbass, or Mesa!

The vintage SVT stack has been my all time favorite amp rig, but the Bergantino NV610 has been my #1 cab since I got it... I don't miss the 8x10 at all. I've been in the unfortunate situation of having to push the hell out of my NV610 (800+ SS watts), and if it loses anything volume-wise to the 8x10, I'm not aware of it.
If you want something taller and don't mind the additional weight and bulk, then go with one of the 8x10 cabs out there: for the SVT magic, stick with a sealed cab (no port). But again, the NV610 gives me all the SVT magic I was looking for and then some.
IME, Mesa's PH810, SWR's Megaliath, and Aguilar's DB810 all "out fridge" the SVT-810e...
Also, although the NV610 is a fantastic cab, and is superior to the SVT-810e in every way, it still cannot match the Mesa, SWR, and Aggie in regards to low end, and sheer moving of air(volume)...
Lastly - Carvin's 810 is not in the same league as ANY of those cabs, IMO - it's clearly inferior to all of them, and is more comparable to the new Acoustic 810...

The new acoustic 8x10 must be heavey because i HAD (past tense here) there 4x10 cab and that thing was so heavey
Isn't the classic Ampeg 8x10 design a quad of baffled 2x10s? I realize that these aren't ideal baffles--they flex--but how much different would separate cabs be? This may be one of those situations where reality just doesn't match theory, but I had thought that Roger Cox had made the 8x10 with separate baffles for each pair of 10s. At least that's what I remember Bill Hughes telling me.
