a band asked me to join

Wow that was horrible.

But get this, that is actually the most dominate style of music in the area. :crying: They all sound like that, and everyone is always talking about they are going to there little hardcore shows and how they love this music :eyebrow:. I try not to laugh at them but I mean seriously how can one call that "style" of "music" music?

luckily there are some people that don't like listening to "pig squealing" <-- and that is what they call the screaming thing the guy in the video was doing. :rollno:

metal music are for "musicians" that are technically limited, or dont care on improving. it is the easiest type of music to play thats why everyone wants to play it.. haha

There is *no* type of music that is 'easy' to play well and with feeling; OTOH, it's probably a little easier to play 'bad' metal, blues, jazz etc that has no soul .... lots of metal is very technically demanding AND enjoyable to listen to.

One way of becoming a 'bad' musician is to make sweeping generalisations about other forms of music you might not personally enjoy.... ;)

i can fret anything dufus... bass is my life, what i breath... just look at any "killer" metal bass player and you can just tell by watching a video how easy and how bad thier finger positions are... let me not get started on how most of them use a pick.... "hey dudes i need to play faster but i dont want to put any time into my instrument... il just use a pick" find me a good metal bass player "alphamale" on youtube, and i will dissect his technique to nothing.. boooyaaa. this is a comedy.

by the way i just looked at youtube's dimebag whatever... its all a bunch of noise my friend... hey im cool im just playing up the fingerboard as fast as i can... let me bang my head to this because i like to listen in the car while i drive fast with all my little hardcore friends...playing fast is not ****...there was nothing behind it.

i can fret anything dufus...
Wow, arrogant and condescending all in one breath - great job there.:hmm:

let me not get started on how most of them use a pick....
I don't play with a pick. It's a limitation I have. Pro's in the rock and roll world all seem to agree that pick is a legitimate style for playing bass. Good rock players should be able to play with fingers and pick. There is nothing wrong with playing with a pick. In many styles, it fits the music better and is a preferred style.

just look at any "killer" metal bass player and you can just tell by watching a video how easy and how bad thier finger positions are... (snip) find me a good metal bass player "alphamale" on youtube, and i will dissect his technique to nothing...

Well, I'm not alphamale and I'm a bit older - so my example is a bit dated - but Cliff Burton is a killer bass player who played metal. If you think you can "dissect his technique to nothing" I'd love to hear you give it a shot.

this is a comedy.
As somebody else said, yes - this is comedy - but not for the reasons you think. (I'm not laughing with you - I'll leave it at that;) )

Wow, Jacohead, thanks for reminding me how close minded and ignorant musicians can be.

Rakie posted a video of a Necrophagist song, please please do me a huge favor, and post up a video of you playing along, and then afterwards, if you could write a 12 page report of how easy it was, I'd appreciate it.

Have it on my desk by Tuesday, along with your TPS reports... also, could you not make generalizations about an entire genre in the future? I don't assume all jazz is elevator music, if you could just not assume all metal is some tubby kid making pig sounds, that would be great, thaaaankks.
