A Little Roscoe Fun

Oh, baby!! That's some nice Box Elder right there!

I think Gard steered me to Padauk for the fretboard on this one... thanks, Gard! Perfect choice.

I've been a having a little fun with the Box Elder SKB-3006 that arrived last week. I decided to tackle a Bossa Nova since I usually shy away from those. I'll never learn if I don't take a stab at one, right? So take a stab I did. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but it's a lot of fun to play in this style. I see more of this in my future!

Many thanks to VroomVroom, PacMan and Gard for all the advice they provided offline...

"If You Never Come To Me" (Jobim/De Oliveira/Gilbert)

The bass sounds really nice all over the neck, and it was a pleasure to play!

Tech details!

As usual, all bass tracks were recorded direct through my Invalid Link Removed. The bassline was both pickups blended equally with the bass's EQ set flat. The melody and chords were all bridge pickup, and the melody had a slight bass boost.

Here are the individual tracks with all EQ, FX and panning removed. Just a smidge of reverb left on it.

Greg rules! (* I know, we already knew that). I mean it when I say that your photo of the SKB [Roscoe SKB-3005 (Pommele Sapele)] is one of the best For Sale pics for a bass I have ever seen. Talk about bass porn.. Well done Greg.

Ok, now I must find the Hoppah so I don't get any crazy thoughts about buying said bass...........(mother).......:help:

Pete, with that extra money, I've got the *perfect* 6 string for you!

And Jerry, I'll take that orange Lull of your hands. You know, in the spirit of giving.
