A local TB'er ripped me off!!

It is very possible he didn't know it was broken. I have basses I never had to tweak. It might have played great for him. You're assuming he caused the problems. Hard to explain if you never knew. Just saying. Good luck
Yet he said in his classified ad that the bass had a professional set up. He also said that he adjusted the truss rod immediately before delivering to me and that there was no sign of a problem. That can't be true, since the truss rod nut was frozen as soon as I touched it.

He has not deleted his account, @bassMG is an active member and has been here for over 5 years.

Oddly he did delete the deal thread and has also deleted some of his other deal threads. Nor does he have much activity shown for a member in long standing.

There is always the chance that he honestly did not know of the damage. I actually doubt the guy set up shop to sell basses with broken truss rods to unsuspecting buyers. His activity on the site is a little out of the ordinary though.

I've found a few "talkbass members" that have nothing but buy/sell threads and a few "questions" and "answers" here and there that seem more tailored to make a sale.

It's a great deal for semi-commercial sellers here, cheap to post, people assume they are actual TB members and wouldn't screw them, the risk is all on the buyer, and I don't think anyone is actually looking through things to keep them straight.

I wonder if this is the same guy who I traded a Lakland JO5 to for a US Fender Jazz. Seller did not disclose that the original Fender branded tuners were no longer on the bass but had Hipshot vintage tuners installed. I was pissed but not too pissed since the Hipshots were just as good. I tried looking for the trade thread but it's gone.

He immediately put my bass up for sale here and on eBay. He's only here to deal.

Is he in Orlando, and is his name Michael? I can pm physical description if you wish.

I paid via PayPal, including shipping, then discovered that we were local to each other. We met half way. I know his name, phone # and address through paypal, and will try to let to powers that be deal with it.

Help from within :***: ??

Help from within meaning within TB. :***: was simply the imogee sticking its tongue out - I have no idea why TB changed it.

This is only half of the story. Better to wait for the other side before passing judgement.
Best pic I can take, you can see the rusty end, and for perspective, it's an inch down inside the heel, with only a quarter inch of thread showing.
