A Non-Sadowsky Owner's Informed Opinion

HI

As a pro who makes his living from live shows, this means everything to me. I dont want to think about my gear for 2 seconds. Setting it up, looking for a sound from venue to venue, etc. My basses and amps let me pretty much plug and play. Hassle free!! Turn up the volume knob and groove.

Ive owned other quality instruments. Always seemed I was adjusting a neck, fiddling at shows, etc. Dont have those worries anymore.

I couldnt be happier. Without sounding insane, you couldnt give me any other bass right now. I simply wouldnt use it. Im selling an Alembic as I right this and have sold off dozens of awesome pieces. Sadowsky isnt better, just perfect for my narrow ass!!! Im glad your Cort is perfect for you. Plus youve got about $2500 in your pocket. So maybe Im the idiot? LOL But again, a good deal is "a state of mind"

Ya know??!!

Rob

Great post & I'm happy for you! I haven't found a piece of gear that makes me feel like that. The search continues.

But the search is fun too.:hyper:

HI

Ditto that. I had the time of my life weeding thru basses and amps I always admired. Foderas to F's, Eden to Demeter. It was endless. All had their positives and negatives. I definately was blessed to run into a used Sadowsky and the rest is history. Nick Epifani and crew have turned out to be sweethearts, also. Im blessed to be content!! LOL

Hypothetical questions for you: I haven't had the chance to play a Sadowsky yet but let's say that day comes, I'm not bowled over by it, and I start a thread about how the Sadowsky was nice but didn't live up to the hype I'd heard on TB. Would you post a dissenting position? How would you react if I told you to move on if you didn't share my opinion?

My post was in response to a previous post that said something to the effect that there are numerous threads started weekly by a bunch of zealots who continue to extol the virtues of all things Sadowsky. My point was that no one is forcing anyone to read these threads, they can just move on to a topic that interests them.
It's common knowledge that a Sadowsky bass is not for everyone. It would be a pretty boring world if we all used the same brand of bass. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I certainly respect yours. If you weren't bowled over by a Sadowsky and you started a thread about it, I certainly wouldn't feel the need to post in it and tell you that you are mistaken or wrong.

Cheers,
Kevin

I read something by Roger to the effect that he wants the bass to be so comfortable that the player forgets about it (or words to that effect). Can't ask for more than that!

I'd say that'd be a great post, as long as you described what you didn't like and why, and kept it from being adversarial. It's only when posts become adversarial that things go bad, and quite frankly, it's easy to avoid if you just think about what you're saying, and possibly re-edit, before you finally submit the post. THIS is where I think a lot of people fall on their swords.

How would you react if I told you to move on if you didn't share my opinion?
Well clearly, nobody should be told this. It's when people feel attacked that they make irrational statements like this, which is related to what I said first in this post.

I realize I'm responding to a post that was directed elsewhere, but I'm doing this on purpose, because I'm trying to further expose how posts and responses should NOT go unless your intention is to only make things worse and try to close the thread.

if i may, one real criticism i have of sadowsky is that it's not possible to get a birdseye/flame maple neck.
I guess they do now:

I have never played a Sadowsky, but I would like to. You just don't see that many (I mean ANY) around this part of the country, unfortunately. But I agree with the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" philosophy. Use what you like and what works for you.

HI

Yea, comfy they are. I also feel that alot of "boutiques" just dont look the part on stage. No offense to anyones bass that is non-Fender looking. Just doesnt work for me. Id seen pics of me and my former MTD for instance and I looked very non-rock and roll. LOL. Am I vain? Well, I guess so. I just love the look of a P or J for me on stage

Another thing for me is weight. Out of my 5 presently, two are 8.5lbs. My fretless is 8lbs and my two moderns weigh 7.7lbs and 7.35lbs!! I get done gigging my latest modern and it feels like I never even strapped a bass on for the night. Heavy pieces are a thing of the past for me. 270 shows a year dictates that. LOL

My fear is that, no matter how carefully I chose my words, somebody would be offended by it, internet communication being what it is.

JUST EXACTLY WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN BY THAT YOU INSENSITIVE JERK???? ;) :D

Hey, I know, but really, I don't think it's that hard. I think the (minority of) folks that read a sensible post and take offense can be safely ignored, and most see them for what they are... easily excitable, overly sensitive, and possibly entertaining... as long as you don't take them as seriously as they take themselves. :D

HI

Yea, for sure. You can order what you want. Just check out his site. Cruise thru the recently sold. All sorts of cool nyc's. Kobass just a got a uniquely beautiful 5er made with a figured top and board. OMG its hot!!

Fair enough. It's just that some threads are like traffic accidents, you know, hard to look away. They attract attention.

That is all.

i sold my sadowsky. it never really impressed me much. i didnt really like the fingerstyle tone and i thought the action had to be set sorta high to avoid rattle. I also feel guilty about owning equipment that is not made in the USA. but then again im a wierdo, my favorite brands are carvin, peavey, and warmoth.
