Ask some of the founders of boutique bass building when this progress pic phenomenon started and see how they feel about it all.
Can any one pull up progress pics of the basses they had made throughout the 80's and up to about 97-98 when the need for progress pics started?
Progress pics really can't divulge much in regards to a flaw usually. The discovery of a flaw or flaws usually happen when the bass is in the purchasers hands.
And no I am not being sarcastic.
I get what you're saying and agree.
If I were going with Fodera, I could probably trust buying the bass without pictures, but I think for these "smaller" builders progress pictures are a must simply because of all the "Dr. Bass" style businesses being ran out there. There are several luthiers that I have heard of that have took the cash and ran just as the good doctor had.
Thanks everyone for the insight and perspective. The seller at this time will not return any communication on any level. I have left negative feedback and will be contacting the moderators of TB today. Thanks all.
This is a shame. Hoping for a resolution for you man.
