Well that is how I usually set up all my basses. It is not lower than any that I play, and partly because I have a light touch (many other people buzz on basses that i don't.)
I live in a mid sized city so I should have no problem finding a luthier and taking a bus to him, though i will need extra time to find one and to have the time during the day to take a bus... a potentially time consuming ordeal. (I shouldn't need to ship it so i never brought it up.)
If I take the bass to Burningskies and/or BigFatBass and they say I am overreacting then i will back off.
It's an older Musicman bass.
I would agree that the seller is being reasonable IF he would agree to lose his shipping to me. I didn't expect to get a bass from an actual bassplayer that needed work done on it before I could play it. If that's the case atleast tell me beforehand and I will decide whether I can live with the price.
I wouldn't have bought the bass if I played it beforehand.

I'm having a hard time picking a dog in this fight....
Joe I think you are being reasonable and fair, but I think the seller is too
1-21/24 fret with only a 1/32 (a credit card) relief is some incredibly low action.
If you seller will pay 1/2 repair does that include shipping to a good repair shop?
Ultimately, If after a few days, your not happy with it return it. If you ship USPS shipping is a little cheaper. What model bass did you get?
Also, in my experience nice basses only take about a day to settle in, its part of what makes them nice basses![]()
