I really want one of those B2's.
Can anyone compare a B2 to an eden 212 xlt with respect to volume, sound.

I've never heard an Eden 212 XLT, but based on the two Acme B2s I've owned in the past, I all-but-guarantee that the Eden is waaaay louder, and has waaaay more midrange (all other things equal).

I have owned a 212XLT in the past, and I own one Low B-2 (with a second on the way!). The 212XLT is indeed, much louder, and has more midrange. However, it is a much more balanced sounding cab than the 210XLT or 410XLT. In fact, it seems more akin to the XST line of cabs, to my ears. It does not seem to have the "low-mid hump" of the 10" equipped XLT series cabs. The ACME certainly goes deeper, and is a much more smooth, precise, and refined cab. You do need to push the ACME with some watts, though. The Eden, on the other hand, sounded great even with lower powered amps.

Different horses, for sure...

Are any of the MANY B2s in this thread B-2Ws? I'm going the acme route with my rig (:D) and i'm wondering how you guys (might) like the B-2W,B-2 combo. I just want a B4 really, but the portability is too much of an issue.

Also, is the low end on a single B-2 REALLY as deep and tight as they advertise? Last question, what size room/venue is the max for just your rack and a single B-2?

Thanks for the help! ALL of your rigs have made me drool on my keyboard :scowl:

Here you go:

need volume, go for the avatar's. a 2x12 will easily out muscle the little 2x10.

but if you're in a musical situation, where you can appreciate a fully formed low B fundamental, and love great bass tone, then its no contest. the Acme. they're not terribly loud for most metal/thrash bands, but for the rest of us, they shine like diamonds.

Thanks, still shopping around, I've looked at Avatars, Earcandy, Shroeder, Your typical "name brand" cabs and now these......still not sure, going up against my drummer and guitarist, I'm leaning towards the avatar 2-12. It's a metal band. BUT I'm also looking for something that'll do something a little mellower as well, like Tool, Janes Addiction type tones... any suggestions?

i love my B-4, and its surprisingly easy to lug around vs. alot of 4x10s. its not Epifani UL easy, but easy enough. if you think about it, you're actually carrying more weight with two 50 lbs. B-2's vs. a single 78 lbs. B-4.

but if you're set on a pair of B-2's, i'd opt for two regular ones, rather than a regular and "sub" version. the extra tweeters give you that much more cut, which can be handy in boomy rooms.

and yes, you want deep? you want fat? you want extended low B fundamental that's as punchie as your E string? look no further than one of Andy's creations. just be sure you've got enough juice.

as for rooms, with my B2, i've easily fed audiences of 300 peeps, with no trouble.

hmm...

then i highly doubt a B2 will be enough for you. heck, i doubt a B-4 would be enough. for a LOUD than loud metal context? the acmes might not be the cab for you.

i'd look hard at Avatar, cause they are affordable, and from what i heard, adaptable to lots of kinds of music.

I'm looking for a lightweight, articulate cabinet to use with my SWR Basic 350. From what I'm reading, the B-1 may meet my needs.

The only thing I questions is how much power does the B-1 need? Acme's web page says 175 watts. My Basic 350 puts out 350 watts at 4 ohms. Is this enough?

Thanks,
LeonD

If you get a 4ohm cab, 350 watts will be good. Be forwarned though, I have owned one of these and they sound great but do not get loud at all by themselves.
