Absolutely! I just wasn't sure of the details and didn't want to go too far down that road....but yes, George had to obtain permission from GC to use the name.

Acutally, the 260/261 was a guitar amp, the 360/361 was the bass amp. So technically you're comparing apples and oranges. Flea still rules........

I know that (I owned a 360/361 new)... I was 'impressed' with the Wall-o-260/261s.

Was kinda hoping Flea would pull off the same visual.

i have had both full setups, but not at the same time. the folded 18" speaker is louder than an svt with the same wattage. the svt has a nicer midrange and treble. the day i stepped onstage with that acoustic setup i had won the battle with the drummers and guitarists and could hear myself at a gig like when i practiced at home. (i used a peavey 1x15 and tweeter on top of the acoustic). i am bummed out they are selling something that comes close to MY speakers lol. i had the acoustic in the late 80's.

I have not played the Ampeg but can tell you that the new 360/361 has an amazing mid-range because of the HF mid-range horn. I have both the vintage 360/361 and the new but I don't bother with the vintage 360/361 anymore.

I have not played one (hell, even seen one), but as I understand it, the new models are running 400 watts as opposed to the originals at 200 watts, so I would suppose that they would sound ecven better than the bygone days...

but better than my HSVT-CL?? NEVER!!!!! :)

That has yet to be determined, BTW, and the ifference would likely be so small as not to matter.

i'm probably in the minority, but i'd much rather have an original vintage one. the new one might be a nice amp, but IME, 99% of the 'new and improved' reissues don't live up to the original versions. that, and i'm pretty much done with having a folded 18" cab. in the past, i owned a 360 w/cab, two 370's with cabs, two 320's with the 408 cabs and the old 360 was the best of the folded horn amps, but the 320/408 sounded better to me.

A vintage Acoustic 361 or 371 bass system is
Much louder than any SVT

Just one Vintage Horn Loaded W bin with 200 watts
will eat a modern 810 for lunch.

And 2 horn loaded cabinets will make you be heard for sure.

and being that vintage Acoustic amps are 2 ohm stable you could be louder than Hell with only 200 to 300 watts

If you attended any concerts in the early 70's when main PA support was still minimal or for vocals only.

Their was a significant sound difference and presence with Bass Players using Acoustic Amps.

Acoustic mastered high SPL bass amps years before Ampeg

their was no SVT at Woodstock and many other concerts that changed the world and music forever.

Since almost none of you have ever played threw a Acoustic, keep your lame negative comments too yourself.

Trust me if you buy a " PRO " Bass amp for 5 grand you will not talk krap and end up being a proud Blue Snob.

Plus your Roadies will love you because a Acoustic W Bin is WAYYYYY lighter than a boat anchor 8x10 and its WAYYYYYYY louder with half the power.

I have heard and Played both amps and have heard them on very large outdoor stages.....Acoustic eats Ampeg for Lunch.

I can completely agree. Having owned and used an Acoustic 360, and being forced to use SVTs (can't stand them) at too many festivals, the Acoustic rules.

Plus it looks WAY better than an SVT.

well, i have not only played and heard them, but i've owned both amps and do not agree with you at all. i really liked my vintage acoustics, but in no way did they eat any of my SVT's for lunch-not even a snack. so i've actually found the reverse to be true.
