Might be pricey, but I bet the people who restored the ceiling art in the Sistine Chapel could save the original finish on your bass. Really though, just get out the clear coat and preserve your 5-years-old self's fantastic custom one-off finish — you'll have a bass that's unique and a conversation piece, people will flock to the stage to ask about it at the first set break — heck, they might not even wait and ask about it between songs, but there's always at least one person that wants to converse with you mid-song... *sigh*
