Adler Basses...anyone?

I played a spalted maple burl 4-string (apparently one of the four maples he has made) at the Adler booth at the summer NAMM show. If it was a knockoff, it was at the ADLER booth next to the Smith and EBS booth, so call them and fuss at them :smug: .

I thought the bass was excellent. It sounded very clean and punchy. I didn't detect a "unique" tone, but it was a great sounding and incredible feeling instrument. That's biggest selling point for me in a bass anyway. If I don't like the way it plays, then I don't care how good it sounds; I'm not going to want to play it.

I took the card, but I was jonesing for an Alembic at the time. I would have given Adler a lot more thought had I known more about him. But I had never heard of him and didn't feel comfortable jumping out on a $3000 guessing game. Still, the bass I played was awesome. Had I not already ordered my new Benavente, I would probably consider ordering one now that I hear all of this good stuff about him.

Sorry I didn't meet you Mike. You have nice work.

Jeff

hey man,

you can check out my road schedule here, at the Link Removed.

and to keep things Adleresque, I was most impressed with the Villex pickups. they were quite tonally versatile and close to transparent. I particularly liked the sets on the 11 and on Jauqo's 8. nice stuff!

 Stew

Thanks for your comments on the Villex pickups. Funny thing, I actually came to New Orleans and jammed with Brandon and Dan when BOG was looking for a new bass player. The chemistry just wasn't there, but we had fun, those guys are cool, tell them I said hello. I see now BOG has a complete new line up, and I think it's probably what they needed to do. It all worked out as I wound up in a really fun band, the Punk Jazz Project (check out our website with live video footage Link Removed). I also play at a great church (Morningstar) and with another fusion project called Airstream. Small world. If you guys come to North Carolina we maybe could hook up and do a show together. Later.

no kidding! small world, brother!

it's funny you mention North Carolina, 'cause we were there earlier this month and over the summer. we may be swinging through at the end of the winter tour, as well.

I'll definitely pass along the 'hello' and I'll hit your site, too. sounds like things are definitely happening for you. stay in touch!

If anyone is interested in hearing what my standard 4 string Adler sounds like, visit

for Video clips of my performance at Detroit Bass Fest(Oct.24 04)

Thanks
great stuff, Jauqo! I like the third best.

considering the sound is coming from a camcorder, that says a lot about your playing, the electronics in the bass, and about how well Mike builds!

He says that the WMP issue looks like it is with the user. What error are you getting?

Mike

Its still not working with WMP, but emjazz said it didn't work for him either.

I used the real player.

there is no error with WMP, theres just no file for it to show. The player pops up, but theres nothing to play.

Thanks
Brian

PS I wear my Adler shirt all the time

I bought my Adler from Mike at the 06 Namm. I am very happy with this instrument. Nice guy, Great instrument, good srevice. Can't go wrong.

You're about 5 years late with your response there :D I don't think Adler is even making basses anymore.
