TB's search yielded nothing of any import regarding this, so here I am.

I'm embarking on a new, guaranteed to be frustrating, chapter in effects. I'd like to replace my pedalboard with an iPad. Please direct me to forums and such on TB that discuss hardware and software, particularly good pedals. Thanks!

TB's search never yields anything useful for me either, its horrible ..... ya gotta go to GOOGLE to search and then let it direct you back to TB.

I just sold off all my pedals and went to Darkglass Anagram. Couldn't be happier. One pedal. But yes, there are ways to run thru a iPad - but thats a google search.

You'd probably do well to look for videos on youtube where people describe their experiences with this.

A search for something like "ipad instead of bass guitar pedals" will have you busy for hours.

Thanks for the search tips. I know about the Google/Talkbass hack; it's uneven, but works better than the TB search.

I've watched a ton of videos about this. I guess I want something that holds my hand more, but considering the way Apple products work (I am a Windows guy), it'll probably just work from the moment I plug in the interface.

Any suggestions on pedals?

Just recently I’ve also started to explore this idea and I’m sure I won’t replace my whole pedalboard with an iPad. But…You can replace a lot of pedals with an iPad and just one pedalboard friendly interface like Hotone Jogg (I got this one), Omec Teleport, Xsonic Xtone or the new EHX effects interface. You’ll also need an AUM or Loopy Pro app good quality usb-c hub with power delivery and a midi controller if you’re going to use it live.
Is it worth to explore? IMHO, definitely. Just one example: I think that reverb plugin I bought for like 10$, with its quality and versatility would cost at least 500$ if in a pedal format.
I’m also using an iPad live with midi keyboard and Moog apps instead of “real” Moog and never heard any complaints about the sound, it never crushes or freezes, just works.
The only downside I can think about is that there is a lot of apps, plugins, and it’s really hard to find any info about most of them. So I’ve bought some which I know I will not use, but also bought some I’ll be using for a long time both live and in Logic Pro.

There were a couple of iPad/pedalboard integrations that are no longer being made, but you can find them on the secondary market:

Ive rehearsed with an iPad straight in to a PA a few times. It works well. I used a M-Vave Chocolate Plus and/or Boss Wireless foot pedal.
I recall NIN promoting Apple's Main Stage software for live use at one stage.

That doesnt work on iPad.

I have rehearsed twice using Logic for iPad, using the Bass amp that comes with it. We hired an empty room other than a PA so I went direct to that. It sounded fine but I know there are better plugins like Spark that would work well.

That iRig unit looks pretty cool. I wonder why this idea didn't catch on. I would have expected there to be a growing market for this.

Fender Rumble Stage 800 (and much smaller Rumble Studio 40) has effects/amp sims built into the amp, which can be controlled through the Fender TONE app on your iPad or iPhone.

I came across this on youtube. It's not a tablet, but it's the same general idea:

The Steamdeck is my entire guitar rig
How I got Neural DSP Archetype:Rabea working with reaper on the steamdeck.

Interesting, but I don't think I'll be switching out my pedalboard for one like this anytime soon.
