Aerosmith Sticker shock!

It’s a cash grab and no longer about the music.

Aerosmith hasn’t been about music since Toys in the Attic.

For additional perspective, I had two reserved seats close to the stage for the Who, when they were relevant in 1968, for $4.50 each. My part time job at that time paid about a dollar an hour.

Just saw an add about new Aerosmith tour. TD Garden in Boston
ticket prices up to $5000.00
When I was a teen they came to the cold prairie town I was living in at the time. Being a bit of a fan I put up my hard-earned dollars for a ticket. Night of the concert comes around and the warm-up act does their bit but no Aerosmith. After waiting over an hour the "band" came on stage and started riffing with no Tyler. He stumbled on stage spewing unintelligible gibberish into the mic turning the chorus of cheers into boos. The only intelligible words he uttered were "fork you" before he stumbled off stage followed by the band. Show over and money wasted. While some may say that's the "old" Aerosmith, as recently as a few years ago I saw they were still booking Vegas shows, selling tickets then cancelling the show. Too bad as I was a fan at one point.

I bought front row seats for Rush on their Time Machine tour, I think it was a little under $700 for both tickets. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it was amazing. No way would I pay any more than that for any other band.

I can’t imagine there’s that many wealthy people that would shell out that kind of money for a single ticket, but who knows?
My dad nearing his 80th birthday and slowing down wanted to see ELO at the Honda Center in Anaheim. I think I paid close $625 for two nice seats. People were on their feet all night. I was worried my dad wouldn't be able to keep up. Not only did he rock out all night but after the show he wanted to go across the street and have a beer. We found a table next to some young ladies and my dad chatted a few of them up. It was an awesome time and Jeff Lynne and band killed it! Sometimes you just gotta throw out a few $$$.

I let my wife talk me into a McCartney show a few years back. I was against it because it was quite a bit more than I would normally pay. Was worth every penny.

Wow. Who could have ever thought that a 75 year old might have medical problems while trying to scream like the Rock star they were 45+ years ago? I him a speedy recovery and that there is no long term damage for him, but maybe it is a sign to call it?

I'm curious what will happen to those who bought their overpriced tickets from the scumbags on the secondary scalper market. Do they offer refunds if the shows have to cancel?

Best of luck getting your money back over cancelled or rescheduled shows. I went through that after all the 'rona madness. Took 3 years to get back $1500 for 4 tickets. It's a crapshoot at best.

Hope Tyler gets over that at any rate, they've had a good, long run.

In this case, the shows are postponed and will be rescheduled. I guess it's on you to make it work, schedule wise.

What I wonder about is, what does anyone who has any interest in this expect to see now, over having the chance to have seen them at any time over the last 50 years? Just a sad nostalgia trip? For a band whose appeal has been based on being “bad boys”, I’d say the diminishing returns process has been at play for a long time anyway.

Geez. I must be old. That last time I saw Aerosmith was here. Check out the prices then. You also got Mahogany Rush, AC/DC and Ted Nugent along for the ride too. The service alone nowadays is more than what the prices were back then. Times certainly have changed.

ON THIS DATE IN 1979 IT WAS DAY ON THE GREEN # 3 TIME. THIS SHOW WAS ALSO KNOWN AS THE “MONSTERS OF ROCK” DAY ON THE GREEN, WITH THE LINE UP FEATURING MAHOGANY RUSH, AC/DC, TED NUGENT, AND AEROSMITH. INCREDIBLY, THE TICKETS FOR THIS MEGA SHOW WERE ONLY
$12.50, OR $15 AT THE DOOR.
