Aerosmith Sticker shock!

Just a little math;

Let’s say a person of average income ($59,500 in US as of Aug. 2023) will pay $100 to see a concert. That’s not a cheap ticket, but it’s not a front row seat, either. That works out to 0.17% of the of the average income.

For a $5000 ticket to end up at 0.17% of an income, the income has to be $2,941,176.

I looked around for some info on how many in the USA earn $3 million annually. I couldn’t find it, but 0.1% of the US makes $1 million a year. That’s still over 330,000 people. My guess is that there’s probably less than 100,000 people that make $3 mil a year. I doubt there are many $5000 tickets. Maybe 10 or 15? Whatever the case, $5000 is a high priced concert ticket….

I bought front row seats for Rush on their Time Machine tour, I think it was a little under $700 for both tickets. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it was amazing. No way would I pay any more than that for any other band.

I can’t imagine there’s that many wealthy people that would shell out that kind of money for a single ticket, but who knows?

Floor tickets for their Nashville show in January are running between $646-$750, with the "Pit" going for $3500 each. Other sections look to be around $150 a pop. I might look and see what verified resale tickets are out there the week of that show. I know it will be a far cry from the first time I saw them live in 92, but I'd like to go cause I'm a big Black Crowes fan as well.
