Aerosmith Sticker shock!

I was a college kid in Boston in the early 70s when Aerosmith used to ride around town in their step van with their logo painted on it. Never went to see them then (which I probably could have done for $5 or less) and have never had any interest in the intervening years. Why would I? There were far better bands around then (Roomful of Blues, Powerhouse, Big Screamin' McGrew, Meat and Potatoes) and there are far better bands around now.

And James Montgomery, Orchestra Luna, Bonnie Rait and Joes place when it was in Inman square Cambridge
Where I saw Freddie King, Howlin Wolf, Paul Butterfield. ($5 cover)

I just looked on Ticketmaster's site. There are no non-resale tickets that high but a single ticket that is "Official Platinum" is close to $2k. That's insane, but it's not $5k. Most are in the $500ish range give or take. I'm not saying that's cheap either.

That means the others are reselling through other sites. People can use StubHub, et al., to charge whatever they essentially want but it does not mean they'll sell at that price.

That said ... be real for a minute.

1. Aerosmith's last tour (most likely)
2. Boston is their hometown
3. It's New Year's Eve

That show was never going to be cheap. Unless this was 1975, and they're playing a place like the Plough and Stars or The Burren ...

I just don't get the outrage at concert ticket prices these days. This is what it's become. I won't pay stupid money to see folks but more power to those who can afford tickets above what I'm willing to spend.

For fun, I looked at the Pats/Eagles game for later today which is the game honoring Tom Brady. Most are nowhere near, but one person on StubHub wants $8100/ticket. I was offered tickets (I'm an Eagles fan living up here) but told my friend who has season tickets to sell 'em and get as much as he can. I'll watch on TV and it's supposed to be rainy. No fun.
