Thanks for the helpful description of your A/B experience with the Para DI and Tone hammer. I'm looking for a preamp to add to my Acoustic Image Focus 2R, primarily to tweak my acoustic bass tone and control feedback at louder volumes. Any sense which of these preamps might work better for that application?
My main amp is an AI Focus with the upright going directly
into the 10meg ohm input on the Focus, and the electric
bass going from the ParaDriver into the effects return on the
amp. This lets both basses have separate eq's.
When only using the upright bass, I'll often use the Para Driver
into the effects loop for my upright bass. I don't need the
blend or the overdrive, but I love the sweepable mids. Also,
the ParaDriver seems to be eq'd well for the upright.
The notch filter on the Focus is good for finding "hot"
frequencies on the upright at higher volumes.

Oh well. I know it is worth the wait.
