For years I thought trout mask replica was the worst album ever, then, when it started popping up at random on my mates i-pod I grew to quite like it.

but that should be a new thread: which horrible album did you actually learn to like? In my case loads of records I learnt to appreciate and love through making myself listen to them more than once!
For me some examples of that are Topographic Oceans, Undertow, Trout Mask and many many more

I love both of those. Especially #II which I think is excellent. I also love "chinese democracy" which I believe doesnt get a fair chance because of band politics rather than being judged on the music.

Every time I listen to any of it, I find that it sounds just like every other modern rock band out right now. In the 80's they were revolutionary - but in polarizing fashion Chinese Democracy pretty much copies all of new music out right now. That's why it sucks.

Not to mention the guitars and effects sound like crap on it. Like they waited a decade for someone to get ahold of the ultra-rare Digitech RP150.


It sounds perfect on VH1 though...if that's any consolation. They can make an "Rose of Love" reality show where Axel is looking for the perfect love of his life out of a group of 12 plastic surgeons.

The Knack - Get the Knack

My Sharona was great... but every other song on the album was just a very slight variation on My Sharona This album disappointed me more than any album before or since. But I hope I am not just getting jaded.

I think this is one of the best power-pop albums ever. I think many songs on it are much better than My Sharona, too.

Their follow-up album truly sucked.

No, just kidding. The worst album for me would be "Philosophy of the World" by The Shaggs. I have listened to bits & pieces of the Lou Reed feedback album and at least you get used to it after a while and tune it out. That's not possible with The Shaggs, alas.

I heard this once and thought it was a joke at first. I would have to try (really hard) to make something that sounds like that.

as a big weezer fan i was really disappointed with make believe. the single was good, other than that though there are only two tracks that are even ok. the rest is pure dirge.

I think the exact opposite, I thought the 2 singles on that album were by far the two worst songs on that record. Beveryly Hills is the worst song weezer has put out to date IMHO. There's a lof of good tunes on that album though.

bump. i agree with so many inputs here, but there are also were a few i disagree with. for starters smashing pumpkins and nirvana. these bands may have had shoddy production on alot of their albums, but at least these guys have heart and their own sound. and that totally goes against the processed abortions of these bands on the radio today. honestly, i think bleach is the best $600 "piece of crap" ever recorded. but to each his own.

anyways, on the contrary..
+1 for me on load and st. anger. actually everything they have put out after the black album is garbage IMO. it just seems so processed compared to their early material.

-anything in the same ball park as nickelback is absolutly terrible

-country music, especially anything from modern day, also seems processed. blows IMO.

-"hardcore".. can't stand it.

-i can't even stand some stuff from some of my favorite bands. tool is one of my favorites, loved every album minus 10,000 days. absolutly hated that album, it just droned on for me. and the absense of a lead bass track (like schism or 46&2) was a terrible let down. also, i just recently got into the band isis. oceanic is one of the best albums i've ever heard. so much emotion put into the album, it's beautiful. but everything they've put out after that just droned to me, just like 10,000 days. nothing really stuck out to me on any of them. panopticon is the most tolerable to me out of the 3 and yet i still find it kind of boring.

-anything that neurosis has put out. just sounds like nails on a chalk board to me.. it's sad too, i love both isis and mastodon, who both have claimed neurosis as a main influence. i could not get into them.
