All-New Ampeg SCR-DI!

Thank YOU, and yes on the speaker sim.
Last before the REDDI. And I'm undecided about road use. I've had a couple scares along the way with the REDDI and fly dates. The REDDI is a tank but nothing is impervious to airline travel, so lately I've been leaving it at home. I miss it, but it's going to be way easier to replace an SCR-DI that's been thrashed by airline travel than it is a REDDI. Plus it's smaller and lighter and less likely to get thrashed in the first place.
Dino's been working on a couple new vids. Shouldn't be too long before they're edited and posted.
Discovered this beauty on the Ampeg site last night. Did a bit o'research (what's available) and she went straight to the top of my G.A.S. list. I even blogged about her already.
I can envision two different uses with my worship gig, three or four for my cover gig, and I already want it just for late-night-can't-sleep-might-as-well-play-bass practicing.

Got the SCR-DI integrated all into my pedalboard now. Wanna see? Of course you do!
If I'm not mistaken, this makes me the first to have a board with the SCR-DI on it. Could be wrong about that, but I can't imagine too many people have one right now...BWAHAHAHA!!! Sure am going to bum out when it's released and everyone can own one. I like being special
Worked out great. Got it set to do basically the sound of it bypassed with the tone controls engaged, except of course for the tweeter-highs rolloff that engaging it adds. And then I have the Scrambler set to do a Jamerson-y overdrive that I can switch in and out. Sounds super fat and in total unity with my clean sound. The blue energy dome sticker is a mod I made to it...it completes the synergy between clean and dirty and gives them both extra energy. It also makes famous singers from the 50's and 60's say "What the hell is that?"
I left out one important detail about it in my reviews...the Ampeg logo is raised and has a mirror finish. Awesome!
EDIT: Don't be making fun of my pedalboard now. It's made with the finest scrap plywood and plastic molded cords that $10 can buy. About once a year I threaten to get a real pedalboard with a real PS and cords that don't cost a dollar each, but then I think, "Screw that!" Would be nice to hide the wirelesses and give myself a little more room for actual pedals, though.

It's a lost art, the plywood-sprayed-black pedalboard. But man, the more I think about it, the more I want to hide those wirelesses and get that space back for pedals that do something. I could probably hide the 6-Band, too. That's pretty much set-it-and-forget-it the way I use it, so need to have it on top. That's 3 more pedals I could fit in that space. Maybe I need a real pedalboard after all...
That way we have the right to say proudly : " yeah, you know, I built a part of my rig. This is why I sound so nice !"

Do you think the SCR-DI would work well with my Bearfoot Blueberry in front for a different flavor of grit? I would be using the SCR-DI without an amp straight to the FOH.
Sure, especially if it doesn't have its own speaker sim built in. Gotta cut those highs past 5k for your DI line if you run dirt pedals. Well you don't HAVE to, but it sounds better IMHO and makes soundmen not want to kill you.
Jimmy, I have the SVP-CL preamp....and I have a SA BDDI that is on my board that I sometimes use...so I was thinking of selling the BDDI and buying one of these Ampeg pedals. Since you have used the CL pre before...do you think it would be 'more of the same' or do you think they would work well in conjunction with one another?
The SVP-CL is the exact preamp from an SVT, so it's in a different league from the SCR-DI. But the SCR-DI is real good for a couple hundy
and I like that it does a highs rolloff and has a really simple-to-use overdrive, so I think they would work well together.
this new Ampeg SCR-DI is a dilemma for me, undecided what to buy: SCR or Tech21 VT Bass DI? I should wait for more reviews ...
Thanks! That is what I was thinking. Plus the Ampeg has more lights, which is always mo betta.
