i just bought the vt di and pretty much happy with it but for some reason i just feel like buying this pedal lol, and i already have like 3 di pedals
It's not. It's a new, more simple circuit that's in the new BA amps. It is not bad at all, either. I brought my BA112 v2 to a small gig Tuesday and ran straight to the amp with no PA, and I used the Scrambler to fatten my tone up just a hair, and it worked surprisingly well for an overdrive built into a budget combo. Usually I use the VT Deluxe for that but I had a severe cold and didn't feel like dealing with pedals, and the Scrambler was pretty respectable. Might not replace anyone's fancy-pants boutique $300 overdrive but does a good job.
Well the BA115hp doesn't have a Scrambler, but if you don't need it, you could just use the DI on the back of it, sure. One nice thing about having a separate DI, though, is if you turn up your amp during the course of the gig, you also turn up your signal to the PA. But as long as you can avoid getting too drastic with changes, an amp DI is fine.
I thought di out of amp was preamp section only. Meaning master output on amp could adjust for stage volume while keeping di output constant???
That would a common setup, DI from preamp (pre or post EQ) to the PA, and master volume affects the stage volume only.
Among other things, but mostly just didn't have the energy. The schlep is a giant PITA on that gig.
As per Ampeg's block diagram, the SCR-DI's "Volume" knob will affect both the level of the 1/4" and XLR outs.
Just got home from NAMM. I spent just a little time with this pedal and Dino.
It is not an SVT pedal, Tech 21 does that a little better imo.
This is much more versatile. Great tones from just about any setting. It sounds Ampeg just not SVT Ampeg.
You almost cant make it sound bad. The Scrambler is very nice.

I was GASing for one of these until I read that.
I was hoping for an even more SVT sounding pedal.
Further investigation required methinks.
For now my VT Bass pedal will do. I've been totally happy with it so far.

OK, I thought the question related to amps and I don't think I've ever used an amp with just one volume knob, there's always been an input gain and a master volume.
