Almost new bass day! Bruce Thomas Profile Bass ordered

I just put my order in for a Bruce Thomas Profile Bass, in salmon pink of course. Setup is Friday, then they ship it on Monday from the UK to the US. Hopefully it will show up not too long after that. The guy said it could take less than a week.

I'm getting it set up with flats, to contrast with my rounds on my other basses. Apparently it has a classic bridge, not a high mass bridge, so I'm hoping for some good thump out of the flats.

When it comes in, I'll add pics to this thread.

Actually, he wasn't the bass player on that one. It was Andrew Bodnar from The Rumour.

I'm not sure if Bruce Thomas was on the first album at all.

Yes! It was designed by the Bass Centre people and Mr. Thomas to create a bass that he wanted. The color matches the one that he had that was stolen back in the 80s (you can see it, for example, in the video for Chelsea).

He picked out the hardware and specified the neck dimensions.

I assume that, as soon as I pick it up, I'll be as good as he is on the bass. That's how this works, right?

Yes, provided you've been carrying on a public feud with your ex-bandleader for years after you stopped playing with him.

I've had my eye on that and the Betsy (Guy Pratt model with EMGs). Would love to hear your take once you get it.

Wow didn't know that; sounds like his style of melodic tracing vocals but Bass playing and tone was great on the few LP's following overall with Elvis.

I was/am a Graham Parker Fan also and Andrew's playing on 'Watching the Detectives' was Great.

Maybe I should look for a Andrew Bodner Profile Bass and place him in my personal 'Bass Players Hall of Fame' in which Bruce is a member

It has arrived! Shipped yesterday from an hour outside of London and arrived to the NY area today. Well done, DHL!

The setup is great, right out of the box. The strings are all at the same volume (this was a big problem when I got my TRBX-604, even after setup), no dead spots or anything.

The frets are all really nice on the edges. The neck feels great -- satin finish, fits very well in my hand.

The top of the body has this nice contoured shape (that I couldn't capture properly in a picture), so that it fits great against the body. I haven't weighed it, but it's not too heavy.

The sound is great -- there really is something about a P-Bass, I guess. This is my first one(!).

Looks great, plays great, sounds great!

Others have mentioned here and elsewhere, but the pickups are hot! They might be hotter than my G&L pickups.

It's interesting playing with flats. I like it so far. I've played La Bella Low Tension flats and I like those better, I think, than these Detroit Flats made for Bass Centre. I guess if I changed them out, I've have to do a setup and I don't want to mess with this setup right now.
