Updates.
Finally got around to getting the screws in the fingerboard or at least temporarily, so that once I can get it stringed up, We can figure out how much to adjust the fingerboard and bridge. Once thats finished and the bass is "fine tuned", we will prep it for finishing. Here are pics for now:
Heres the newer bridge, had to re-solder the connections on 2 of them, they're ok now. Used white 100% silicone to set the elements in place, then filled the rest after I tested the output before and after filling it.
Setting them in w/ silicone.(a little sloppy though).
Here it is filled.

Unfortunately,progress has been abit slow, my wife and I have been helping out her parents, her father is terminally ill, her mother is recovering from surgery. Will resume soon. What little time I can get in, I'm redoing the mini bass, after much R&D, i feel it is the closest to a finished product, that has been rigorously tested. I will post some more updates when I can.
and yes, I've tested it with a bow too, works very well.

At last, Cecil is getting some progress on the right handed one.No paint for his, he wants a "natural look".
He wanted a "crow's foot, instead of a "keyhole", for a tail.
I wanted to do a rebuild of the mini bass, especially since it is the most completed of all. so far, have the steel silicone'd into the 1.5" pvc, made the headstock and the bridge is near completed.

Cut it, shaped it and ran preliminary screws into it, note that ultimately I ended up using "fine" thread screws w/ "knock in" threads
After that, I routed it out for the piezo, wiring and jack, note that the cable in the pic that goes between the two round holes where the elements will be, is piezo cable as well.

Fast forward a bit, wired up the piezo elements to the piezo calbe, which you can see, is pretty close to where the strings will rest on the bridge.Also, I super glued the knock in threads, so that I will not have to worry about them coming back out.
Prepped up the bridge pieces for paint.

I wired up the jack, had it all set in, had already put the camera up though (be in the next one).

No, too much bow in it for steel strings.If you're using any other type of string (nylon etc)you can use an "all thread", without a problematic bow. Using steel in the center, surprisingly it does not make it heavy as it sounds. The mini, completely put together does not weigh more than an average p-bass (might be a tad bit lighter) although it has not seen a scale yet.
The larger basses however, use 8ga boiler pipe (steel, about 3/16" thick) It does weigh more than the mini. We're considering whether or not to just use aluminum instead, but the steel will work great none the less, for there is way more string tension on the larger ones than the mini (66-72lbs vs. 32-38lbs, has to do with the scale length ultimately).
I will have to get a real weight measurement soon.

would you produce these to sell? i lack the tools to make one my self.
Not immediately, still gotta prefect the way of making them, so theres not so many man-hours involved yet.
But it is possible, just not right now.

Thanks to those who inspired me. the pipe is 1and 1/4 pvc, headstock 2". Fretboard is a oak door threshold, misc. 1 and 1/4 adapters, and a wood dowl inside for added rigidity. after much tinkering it seems to hold tune, and not buzz on the fretboard, the action is fairly high still though. Haven't started on a pickup yet, not sure if I will make one or buy one, I live close to where they make Highlanders, and Baggs, might take it in there and see what they say. let me know if anyone wants to see more pics
