I'd like to start the discussion asking you: what kind of strings do you use on your aluminum neck bass? I think the choice may affect significantly the "voice" of any instrument and more significantly on these ones which are really unforgiving ones!
I currently use Daddario ProSteels (heavy gauge), I loved their sound on my previous bass (Fender Jaguar) but I'm a newbie to aluminum necks and looking for more options and suggestions!

Robot graves posted some pics of a neck on instagram lately that show off the neck profile pretty well, also there's a video on YouTube somewhere IIRC
EGC bass neck feels a lot like a vintage Kramer to me, C shaped like a p bass but more shallow

Been loving all I've seen of theirs.
yeah, me too and for us here in europe it's a great chance to get an all alu instrument for a good price from a good guy, as far as i can tell.

So, I've run into a few issues with my EGC neck.
It looks like there is a dive from about the 7th fret back to the first fret on the treble side and it makes the G buzz madly when plucked open, as well as between those frets. Even with action at max it was buzzing
The mounting screws I was given are only just long enough to reach the neck through the pocket on the body, so the connection isn't the tightest
The neck doesn't reach all the way down to the bottom of the neck pocket
I thought the nut might be the issue, but my luthier is pretty adamant that the neck has a dive in it
I contacted Jason seeing if there was anything they could do about it, and he got back to me saying they could send me a blank nut and I could see if my luthier could cut it. I'm kinda really bummed that it didn't fit my bass, because it's a round fender neck pocket and they claim to machine for those.
I don't want to just send it back and get a refund, but I also don't think my luthier should need to fix a manufacturer mistake. What do you guys think I should do?

When you say the neck has a "dive" in it, do you mean like the neck itself has been over milled in that area? As in, it's not completely level? Got any pics?
What brand is your body? I just put together a parts P and the neck doesn't butt completely against the heel but it tunes and intonates just fine.
I'd definitely try the new nut and if that doesn't work, go from there.

I believe you're correct, but it's not obvious to the naked eye that this is the problem. I have a video of how it was buzzing and some pics of the crazy high action
It's an MJT body, and true, butting all the way up against the neck heel isn't a problem because it tunes. Intonating it is the issue currently because of the buzz.
I'm sadly not on Facebook, does anybody from there check this thread?
