Aluminum Neck Club

So, I ordered the neck and received it. It's being sent back because of a bad UPS driver/small ding at the end of the fretboard. Stand up company though.
But, I realized I am a fool. I ordered it bc it said it fit FMIC pockets "like a glove"
"Cool, I'll convert my P bass to a 5 string, and make the T-bird bass have the black anodized Hoxey neck"

I quickly realized Aluminati were talking about a Fender 5 string bass pocket. DuH!

Since there is no room with the horns on the P to route a bigger neck pocket, my plans were to swap which neck went on which bass. The T-Bird has ample room, and with the Bart T-bird pickups and a thinner spaced 5 string bridge, I think it will work out great.

While my neck has been shipped out, I eyed my P bass the other night, and immediately pulled the neck off it and it got the black anodized one. My buddy said it looks like a punk bass, and with a shaved maple body(by me, for more brightness and resonance), no tone or volume controls, and an MFD reversed P pickup, it embodies all of the punk attitude.

I may change the nut out since I used heavy gauge strings and there is a very small amount of buzz on the open A, but besides that it plays like butter, and sounds awesome, even with the year-old Rotos on her. I will also say that Kam Hoxey has always been helpful, like how when I called him about changing out the nut and getting his thoughts on it.

That's awesome. I never liked that it didn't have the high mid control where I like it, but once I discovered what the bright switch does it seemed to take care of that problem for me. A P bass into that never sounds wrong. I got it because of Appetite for Destruction. I have an 800RB in the closet as well as a Mesa Bass 400. I like them all, but have been mainly playing the 400 the last few years.
By the way, that's my first aluminum neck. I had some pre conceptions of how it might be harder to play/neck sticking to my hand/too cold/tuning changes.
None of those are an issue for me, it plays like butter, barely notice a tune change, and well....the coolness feels good because I live in Florida!
And I have more of the angry piano tone I am so fond of.

Just got the Aluminati - this thing is amazing!

I may get a WD pickguard in anodized black to match the neck better or maybe brass to match the nut and for a pop of color, since gloss black doesn't look great imo

Also got a double Delano JMVC pickup I'm going to get installed, just need to figure out the best way to route the J bridge spot for it (bartolini BD size) since I don't really like the bridge J in a PJ - gonna be awesome

Sick!! The different color 12th fret marker is a really nice touch and really pops with the matching tuners.

2 piece alder RD style body by Rosser Guitars. Had the vol/vol/tone placed inline and the output jack off to the side like the original RD standard.

Olive drab nitro finish by BloomDoom Guitar. I love green on instruments and I've been wanting a bass in this color for a while. Dustin from BloomDoom was awesome to deal with. Nailed detail and amount I wanted in the relic. He was great with communication throughout the whole process and the lead time was was exactly as advertised. Highly recommend.

Added an extra picture with the neckplate that has a machined tapped strap button attachment. I had been looking for one forever and randomly came across Glendale Guitars out of Texas that sells exactly that. It was expensive but well worth it as the bass is perfectly balanced playing standing with no neck dive associated with RD/Thunderbird style basses.

Bass came in a tad over 9lbs, which is what I was aiming (hoping) for considering all of the pieces.

Still love it! It's my number 1.

The Rosser bodies and Aluminati necks are a great match.

Only thing that has changed is I swapped out the bridge for a Babicz (Z Series) bridge. And I changed the knobs from the Gibson style to some cool aluminum knobs from ilovemyswitches called the Cosmonaut (29mm).

And I'm figuring out adding a 3-position pickup switch to the controls. I'm personally not the type of player who blends in volumes with jazz pickups. I'm very much all the way in one position or another and I do that a lot with my playing so a pickup switch is something I really want to add.

Hoping to pickup another Aluminati neck later this year as I want a fully brushed finish. And still hoping they add another headstock variation for the 4 string option. I think their new Archer headstock is really cool but they don't have a 4 string version.

Still highly recommend any of the companies I've purchased from or had services done. Unfortunately it seems Glendale Guitars doesn't make the neck plate with the tapped strap button anymore. So I'm still on the search for an alternative for future bass projects.

Same here! All or nothing, I had spray painted my Rosser and, well did a bad job, and let it sit in the garage, I recently though about it and while it's an ugly job i think I'm gonna go ahead and add an Aluminum neck to it anyways, it'll be "my" ugly bass LOL, thanks for responding as you've helped me make up my mind

I think that looks sick! Love the pickup options you went with, that's what I'm going with for my next bass.

They're both great as far as fit and finish, but I like the feel of the Alef a little more.

The EGC has more of a "knife edge" at the edges of the fingerboard (it feels like a 60 degree angle on the edges). The Alef feels more like a traditional neck with a fingerboard. It has a 90 degree angle at the fingerboard edges, then the radius starts 3-4mm down from the fingerboard, whereas the EGC radius starts at the edges.

If you look close enough, you can see where the radius starts (just south of the fret markers) on the Alef. Also, pay no attention to the sloppy job of the larger luminlay fret markers that I installed.

Funny enough I contacted Aluminati last week about their Archer headstock and whether they were going to make a 4-string version.

They replied stating that it was in the works for later this year. They also shared a design of a 4-string 2x2 Nebula headstock - which I'm very interested in as that's the design I was hoping they would eventually come out with for bass.

That's awesome. I thought about messaging them about a tilt back 2X2. Was it the version with the large cut-out or the A logo? Any pics you can share?

While I'm not sure if this is public info as of yet, they were very responsive and friendly with sharing this to me. And I'm sure they'd be willing to share this with anyone else that messaged them - especially bass nerds (like myself) on an already niche sub-forum lol.

I honesty really like the Archer 4-string, as the Thunderbird-esque style would play really well with the aesthetics of my RD style body. But the 2x2 Nebula seems to be calling me :)
