Aluminum Neck Club

That reflects everything I've heard, so thanks for that! Any idea if these seem to be high output pickups, or if they're like standard output from an "off the shelf" P bass?

I put them on my meter before installing, they read surprisingly low! Like around 5.64. In comparison a Dimarzio Model P easily clears 13+.. but the Aluma output is somehow on par with higher gain P pickups, like the Model P or Duncan Quarter Pound, but without the “woof” or crazy magnetic pull when raised too close to the strings. Their construction is like no other bass pickup on the market, holding them in my hand I chuckled to myself, like “what is this?” lol. This is really great though, I have them installed pretty close to the strings and yet they’re still perfectly useable. From what I’ve read, there are transformers involved with what little bit of copper winding there is in the coils. Whenever I get another set I plan on taking a closer look.

I’m having a hard time figuring out what body to pair with my Aluminati hollow core P neck. 60’s koa top Jazz, 60’s Oly White P or a P bass from Warmoth with a music man sweet spot route? I have the Jazz and P but saw Warmoth has 1pc bodies and I’m kind of jonsing for the sweet spot bulls in a 1pc Black Limba body. One of these is going to get my Status P neck.

Let’s see that koa topped Jazz body! That would be my personal pick for the Aluminati neck. And for the Status neck, definitely the P w/ the MusicMan route!

The thing that has me hesitant about the status on a mm routed P is that I have a Moduls Q5 sweet spot.

Pics really don’t do it justice. It’s a crazy top. Not my photos, taken by the seller. Originally I wanted to put the Status on the Jazz, but also happened into the Aluminati a week later. Talking with Warmoth about a double reverse P where the bridge is in MM position and the neck has the E/A in the same location as standard but the D/G centerline shifted“reverse” toward the neck. That’s a whole other project though lol.

Edit: I also got the Aluminati from here as well. It’s a hollow core P and I believe it’s number 56? I’d have to check.

Here’s one I put together at the beginning of 2025.

It’s a Warmoth 54 P body I ordered with the “paint ready” option. My daughter had been wanting to paint one of my basses, so I got one specifically for her to paint. I did a little extra routing and installed a Serek LZN B90 with series/parallel push/pull. I used a Hipshot KickAss bridge so I could make the string spacing narrower to line up with the pickup poles. The neck is an Aluminati. I can’t say enough positive about the Aluminati neck, it’s amazing.

I love this bass, it’s so unusual, sounds amazing, and comes with built-in sentimental value in the form of my kid’s abstract painting.

Not bass-related but I picked this up yesterday

Aluminati 3x3 Nebula neck, brushed finish with the ultra-light cutout. Weighs exactly 2lbs. They had been working on a batch prior to me contacting them so the wait for it was only about a month and a half.

I have a project Rosser flying V guitar body I sent out not too long ago for a nitro finish.

Got to pick it up their shop here in Asheville. I work 5 minutes down the road from them. Awesome people at Aluminati.

Let us know what you think of the neck. The guy (my friend Zach) that I have been jamming with has a highly modded Ed O’Brien Strat that has a Baguley with a PIG 90 in the neck (I forget the other 2, bridge is a blade pickup). Thing rips. Has me wanting a Aluminati guitar neck.

This is my second Aluminati neck and I highly recommend them. Granted its such a niche market and subset of players who want them, Aluminati's craftsmanship is top notch and I found, to me, worth the price. Also worth noting they do offer discounts for first-time buyers when buying directly from them (at least I was given one when first inquiring about purchasing when emailing them. My first neck from them was through a dealer).

She weighs approx 12lbs. Body is Ash with thin coat of black lacquer created by Ian at Rosche.
I still cannot believe how good Ian is, as a person who enjoys art and hand built things, i am in awe of the talent required to make instruments like these.

Pickups are custom Custom MJS double P:
I told Mike from MJS what I wanted and took his suggestion:

A Standard P-Bass format that is a little underwound with Alnico 5 magnets. The stronger AL5 magnets will help with clarity under gain situations and the slightly underwound coils will tighten up the bottom end with your lower tuning. This would be for a single pickup bass (2 coils). If your bass has a Bridge and Neck position (2 pickups – 4 coils) then I would wind the neck slightly weaker. The following would be my recommendations:

*Single Pickup Bass – MJS Vintage 4-Str P-Bass @ approx. 9.5K to 10.0K ohms with Alnico 5 magnets.

*Neck Pickup Option – MJS Vintage 4-Str P-Bass @ approx. 8.5K to 9.0K ohms with Alnico 5 magnets.

Note: String Spacing is Standard 4-String Fender P-Bass.

I am not one that articulates well "sounds" so here I am quoting Ian:

"They are very good pickups. with both on you get a kinda mid-scooped sound will sound great with a pick"

I originally only wanted one knob for volume and then a 3-way switch to select pickups. But finally Ian convinced that 2 volumes would be better, as the pickups sound really different alone or with vol mixed etc.

I will try to add sound clips this week.

Finally remembered to post this EGC neck attached to a Peavey Patriot body. Had to route the neck pocket a little, move the bridge back a bit, while having to drill new holes in the neck pocket to accommodate the difference between the 20 and 21 fret necks. There's always something fun about making to incompatible pieces work well together.

I'll also note that I only did this to the Peavey as the neck was horribly bowed, and the paint on the back is textured and soft from the deteriorated foam of the original case. It had been sitting unused for about 20 years. The person I got it from was going to toss it out, as it was in such poor condition.

That looks awesome! I'm trying to save up some money to put a RGI neck on my 4 pickup Jazz Bass to match my RGI-necked Jazzmaster/Strat hybrid. I'm this close to the noise rock rig, I have a Rusty Box and a preamp, just need the neck now lol. How thin are those EGC necks? I know the RGI ones are quite thin, which I like.

The EGC bolt-on bass necks have the same feel / profile / nut width of a 1.68”Precision neck. Definitely not as thin or flat as an RGI.
