Yeah, the site has been very sluggish today, likely because of prime day, which has been the worst ever.
Seriously? I think it keeps improving every year. I got some really, really sweet deals on stuff I've held off on buying. Lowest price ever on a number of things. I'm glad I waited on these purchases -- saved a few hundred bucks.
Dremel stuff being 30%+ off was nice. I picked up a bunch of stuff from that alone. Picked up a few new pairs of jeans for about 20% off. Also picked up a bunch of home things I've never - got a new garden hose and nozzle that I've neglected to replace the past few seasons and some other hand tools I need for upcoming projects. It's been the best year yet for Prime Day, just crusing the deals and from what I've personally saved.

I placed an order Friday afternoon, Amazon indicated Tuesday delivery. No problem.
It showed up 20 minutes ago.
I placed a Prime Wardrobe the same afternoon, but it didn't ship Prime. I started a chat session to ask why. The agent apologized and extended our Prime membership one month at no charge.
Since the price increase the quality of our Amazon service and the additional perks have been significant, far beyond the extra $20 I will spend on the membership.

You're lucky. I can't seem to get past the first page of any search I do with that error message coming up. Very disappointing.
That annoys me. I use the 2-day shipping to schedule it to arrive when exactly I want it to.
Interesting angle. I never thought of it that way.
For me, 95% of what I buy on Amazon.com is stuff I can buy locally. I'd rather not go to the store and fight the crowds, so I just get it online.
Or, like the example of dog food, I don't want to lug a 30 or 40 pound bag of dog food around the store.
So when something comes early it's cool by me.
I totally see your point though and how it could be annoying in some situations for me.

I’m staying with Amazon, since the growth in their stock value over the last few years has pushed me over the top, enabling me to retire Friday at 57. May not seem like a ripe young age for some, but I always figured I’d be working at least another 10 years.

We're working to wean off our reliance on Amazon in 2019, and support small business more often.
So far, I've diverted three purchases from Amazon to other online retailers that were small companies. Yeah, I had to wait longer to get the items, but that's fine. I grew up without the internet and fast free shipping, so I can go right back to that life.
There are times Amazon is the only one who has what we need so I'll use them when necessary. As 2019 comes to a close, we'll run the numbers and decide if Prime is the right choice for us in 2020.
There's never been a question to us the value of Prime in years past, even with the 2018 price increase.

In the long run, Amazon just continues to kill off other businesses - their business model is absolutely ruthless. In the ping long run, that isn't good. Think about how there are almost no decent music stores, but done with more purpose, and for all commerce.
