Amazon price increase

I ordered some clothes from Amazon, got the stuff today.
  • Carhartt shorts: Fine
  • Carhartt jeans: Fine
  • Carhartt pocket tee shirts: Very thin lightweight material. Nothing like the nice substantial tees I get at a B&M store. Disappointing.
  • Wrangler long-sleeve shirts: Very thin lightweight material.
  • Amazon Basics boxer briefs: Pretty thin.
  • Carhartt socks: Thin and flimsy.
I am not impressed.

I'm still in. I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, from musical equipment to our patio cover. Plus, I have really been enjoying the Amazon Video (now called Prime Video). The music streaming service is pretty good as well. I believe I am still getting my money's worth.

I don't understand. You're not impressed with Amazon in this case, how? Sounds like your actual gripe is with Carhartt and Wrangler more than Amazon?

All the Carhartt pocket Tees I’ve previously had were made of heavyweight dense cotton that lasts a very long time. The new Tees are thin and light and feel flimsy & cheap. Likewise the socks. This seems like either a different line of Carhartt clothing for Amazon, or “B stock”.

The Wrangler shirts are also inferior lightweight material.

“What’s the minimum number of molecules we can put into these garments that will hold them together for a few washings”.

I noticed the reduction in quality of Carhartt tees as well in recent years. The jeans are still the same quality in my experience.
Many people in the USA want what they want to be cheap, so that's how manufacturers make it happen.
I wouldn't put the issue on Amazon.
Is there a Carhartt store near you? We have one in Seattle. If you do, take your cheapie Carhartt tees from Amazon into the store and compare.

Two day shipping doesn’t mean as much when they don’t ship for 5 days.

I can usually find the same stuff I don’t need for a few cents more or a few dollars cheaper on eBay and the shipping is days faster.

I left amazon years ago.

Some people understand the two day shipping for Prime to mean the item arrived in two days. It's two days for the shipping method once the item is ready to ship, not total. Amazon makes this clear.
I've been spoiled living so close to Amazon. More often than not, I get my item in two days and sometimes one day.

I have a couple dozen Carhartt pocket tees that are now several years old and still holding up very well. Even after many dozens of washings the material is more substantial than on these brand new ones.

Russell did the same thing a while back. They made a great pocket tee, then the quality went down the toilet.

I’m not directly blaming Amazon, but this experience makes me wonder if Carhartt and Wrangler cut some kind of special deal with Amazon to keep prices low by producing a different version just for Amazon.

So the Carharrt and Wrangler clothes you are buying off Amazon now, are different than the same if you went to any physical store and bought them today? Or are you comparing stuff you bought "now" from Amazon to stuff you bought years ago from another place?
I'm really trying here, but I just can't see how this is on Amazon at this point.

The increase doesn't bother me. Still worth it. Amazon has given me the shortest distance to the things I want that I probably couldn't get locally.
Just Click and buy.
And buy and buy. And buy now.
I might have a problem.

Kindle Books with Prime = lots of free books at my finger tips plus good prices on e books or out of print books.
Prime Video
Free 2 day shipping in most cases. ( There have been some that didn't qualify )
Amazing return policy and support. ( Used it twice for this, colour me happy )
Product reviews help in my choices so that is a win.

120 seems cheap to me.

Amazon has had a detrimental effect on the variety of my wardrobe. I have long and short sleeve Carhartt shirts in every color offered and Wrangler shorts in every option. It's just so much easier then shopping, especially when you're picky about how clothes fit. Most shirts are far too short to work or recreate in, most new brands in pants or shorts are far too tight in one area or another. So, when you find something that fits like you want it's awful easy to just buy 5.

This is the first time I've shopped for clothes like this online. I guess the lesson I learned is to read the descriptions carefully. In a brick & mortar store the shirts are right there and you can touch them and immediately decide "I like this", or "I don't like this". In an online photo, you don't get that tactile kind of feedback. I didn't realize that certain colors aren't 100% cotton.

Read the details carefully. :)
