Ambience In-Ears

I have been using shure SCL5s for a couple of years now. No real complaints. Plenty of isolation with tripple flanges. I have been looking into replacing them with another unit that has some ambience built right into the unit. I was interested in the Sensaphonic 3D system, but the dual driver system with beltpack mixer appears to be $2500, so thats not gonna work. That brings me to passive ambience offerings Who has experiece with these? What are your thoughts on them? We have very stage volumes except the cymbols are loud and I would like to take the edge off of those, and I do have my 2x10 rig up somewhat and like to hear it as well as what comes through my personal mix. No floor monitors. I dont want to do ambient mics on the corners of the stage to mix those in. I basically want a good fitting iem that lets me hear my mix and what's going on where i stand with a small amount of sound reduction to take the edge off. Any ideas?

I love my Sensaphonics 2MAX, so I can vouch for the company's quality. Great bass response. Never tried their 3D system, but I hear it's outstanding (and for what it costs, it better be!).

Ultimate Ears have an optional ambient feature that would probably work for you too. Our guitarist uses the UE7 Pros and he loves them: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

There may be other companies doing that -- but they're probably all custom molded. Not sure what your budget is.

I have our engineer mix in the two mics upfront to get the "feel" since my Sensaphonics basically block any and every noise!

I use SCL5 too and last year got some custom molds for them.
Big improvement over something that was already good!

Just sayin' .....


As for the ambiance , a good pair of shotguns is the way to go IMHO

Went to see an Audiologist here in my City.

He took a "print" and sent it to some company (??)
Took 2 weeks , cost me 200$

Now the isolation is very good and it enhenced the bass response.Very flat now.
I believe that these IEM were designed to be use with molds.
