No worries on the dad brain. It’s Martin Keith. @emjazz introduced me to his work. And it turns out Martin was up to do a custom touch instrument. Love the body shape.

Oh, yeah, man. When I first started out in music and thought about which genre would get the ladies, I was like, 'metal or ambient'? Probably explains a lot.

Possible used Sadowsky Metroline Précision bass on the market not too far away. It’s a Japan model, waiting on serial #

anyone here have any idea experience on these?
They seem like the US ones without the custom options.

I don’t « need » it, but I’ve been wanting a top tier Precision for years

Haven't played that model but I played both US and import Sadowskys in a store (the US ones in their workshop). Very well built, good modern sound. The Sadowsky preamp has a "sound" so it's not like buying a passive P.

I would for sure rip the preamp out and make it a passive instrument.
I’m allergic to active preamps, sorry…..off lawn please!!!

or maybe put the pre in a pedal enclosure so you can use it if the spirit moves you.

I've probably blathered on here about my love/hate relationship with P Basses before, but your post reminded me: I thought I wanted a top tier Precision -- or, hell, even just a modest tier Precision -- for years too. Not because I love the sound, but because I hate the sound ...yet everyone and their mother keeps raving about the sound of a P and insisting a bassist needs that sound in their arsenal and yadda-yadda-yadda, so I started wondering if maybe my memory of the last few P Basses I owned or borrowed was suspect or corrupt due to age so maybe I should give it another chance.

So I finally put together a pretty swanky P Bass from Warmoth body/neck and Lindy Fralin pickup, Gotoh & Kluson hardware blah blah, strung it up with old skool flatwounds, been playing it a lot for the last 3 or 4 years

...and ya know what? I still hate the sound of a Precision Bass.

I never use what others use or what trends on TB say.
I use whatever works. For about 15 years it was a jazz bass, now a precision.
would be boring as #$&@#$ if we all liked the same stuff now would it?

its that simple, no other complex reasons. although i greatly prefer passive instruments.
and yes we all know you hate precisions
