I grabbed a Synchrodyne from the WMD closeout. Current thinking is I'll swap it in and out with the Inertia for the weird filter role, or maybe bench my Marbles for a while since I haven't used it as much as I used to. Hmm.

sorry for all the questions, but i’m sampling and doing sound manipulation today so……was looking at some external mangling pedals, so who better to ask than Mr Ross.
Are the mood, Booper and habit all as one dimensional as on every demo on YT.
It seems like everything I hear is the same color but only different variations on said color.
Am I mistaken?
Same thing with the Lyra, but since having one I can tell you sure that it definitely isn’t a one dimensional 2 note drone with a mini delay that every YT person adds ridiculous amounts of reverb on an external. pedal.

I can definitely see how Blooper and Habit could come across as super-similar to one another...but I don't think there's anything inherently "one dimensional" about either pedal. They just give back what you put into them. GIGO.
I haven't listened to a lot of videos about Blooper so I don't know what sort of demos are out there. The only videos about Habit I've heard are the ones that came out within the first week of that pedal's release, and so if they all seem one dimensional I think that may have more to do with new users/demonstrators not fully understanding the musical applications of the gizmo...I know I was astounded at how many folks released a Habit demo video within such a short time, and I kept thnking "Do these folks not work for a living? How have they found the time to fully explore this pedal in ~4 days!?!?!"
Answer: They didn't, they just scratched the surface.
The more I use MOOD the less I understand about what it's supposed to do. Or the more I think mine might be broken. But I would never call it "one dimensional"
[btw, was it in this thread where we discussed the potential one dimensionality of the Soma COSMOS? I can definitely see how the demo videos would give the impression that that pedal is one dimensional...you really have to massage it constantly, almost fight it, to force it to veer away from a default behavior that can yield very same-y results, regardless of what you played into it. The Chase Bliss pedals are not nearly as coercive in terms of turning your input into undifferentiated output.]
thanks for the input, i should have chosen better words than « one dimensional » to describe the CB pedals. Sorry about that.
I know basically nothing about sampling so I'm curious about your workflow with it, what you aim to create, how (if?) it integrates with bass, etc.
To keep it short, I use a simple SP404sx and chop and sample pretty much anything I can get my hands on.
Movies, dialog, records, field recordings, break beats……anything.
Then I bounce back and forth between the sampler and a portable 4 track to build tracks piece by piece step by step.
Sometimes I use some pedals in between for some FX that I don’t have in the sampler.
(The sp is quite limited, but that’s the way I like it. Forces you to think and create while not being overwhelmed with options)
I never use my bass when doing this.
I avoid the computer at all costs (o makes me go zombie mode) unless it’s absolutely necessary, it often isn’t until the final mix/master part.
I also have another way of using the sampler, sort of like a multi track tape machine to layer multiple asynchronous loops. But that’s another workflow entirely.

No need to apologize. And, if the sounds in all those CBA videos do sound same-y or cut-from-the-same-cloth or undifferentiated then I think "one dimensional" is as good a term as any.
Or is there another quality that you're identifying?
no , I think you hit the target when you mentioned the pedals sound like what you put into it.
I definitely understand the are deep and complex machines.
Thanks @ugly_bassplayer for the info. At some point I might have to just get some sort of sampler and mess with it. I could also explore the sampling functionality in Reaper I suppose.
Man, sampling is a weird route. It took me forever to understand Maschine as a sampler with DAW-like functions instead of thinking of it as a limited DAW.
Now my struggle is determining if I want another synth voice in my euro rack or if I want to make room for a sampler module. I've been looking at the Erica Drum and ALM Squid Salmple.

The Rossum Assimil8or appears to be the king of eurorack samplers. Kinda deep, but crazy functionality. I like my Squarp Rample pretty well, but it doesn’t live sample.
I’m more in the market for a eurorack sampler that can act as a looper. Not sure what route I’m gonna take yet
the instruo lubdah (or however it’s spelled) might be worth a look.
I played a Rossum Assimil8tor recently. I went in thinking “what a terrible interface.” After like a minute I was thinking “what a brilliantly designed module and it sounds great.”
More drones with looping to annoy your earholes...

I have the Instruo Arbhar, which is really good. Thought about getting their looper. Expensive though!
I’ve watched a lot of deep dive videos and it’s one of the more intense samplers out there, eurorack, or not. Putting all that functionality into such a small module seems like it could prove daunting/frustrating, but I’ve never tried one myself.
You still creating on the euro rack?
You seemed pretty much on a tracker binge.

Maybe worth mentioning. I recently decided to try a Bergantino Forte’ HP amp. Played it on 8-10 gigs last week and it’s a hoss. Maybe a bit ‘hifi’ for some tastes, but it’s quite punchy with great clarity. I dunno, so far I like it
