imo, the pickups and electronics are sort of the least important thing, as they can be changed due to taste.

You're the one who nudged me into going passive again, and that alone solved a lot of issues for me. This stuff just takes time, and as you said, we change so our desires and needs change as well.

Passive all the way for the last 25 years over here, not one millisecond of regret.

Come to think of it, I have a MusicMan Sabre which is kinda active. I rarely play it except for the odd session here and there

Heh I had a weirder bass journey…
Instead of getting new strings / pickups I ended up getting new basses…
wish I had originally known and found my Ibanez k5 before going through a few fender jass basses (fretted and fretless) musicman sub and a few other Ibanez styles (Gary Willis fretless and some really cheap one)
Active doesn’t bother me cos my bass gets put in the cupboard after every play… batteries usually last up to a year or the next string change, I think only once in 12 years have I got to the point of the battery dying.

Other than the MIM Jazz that sits in the closet, I don't have any passives. I can make the Miezo and Bordwell passive with a switch, which I do from time to time, though. Always preferred active, although I don't think one is better than the other. I think a lot of the Wal's sound has to do with the pre as much as the pickups, though.

I am beginning to think that someone at Soma FM is playing a trick on me. I mean, this is just...WTH? I mean, yeah, maybe on the Drone Zone, but whole station? Certainly not translating into album sales but I do wonder if there might be more than 2 cents in my first ASCAP check.
