Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Rearranged the rack today. Moved the Zoia to a less prominent spot. I wanted to have things set to be more “knob turning” and experimental. I’m almost tempted to move the Zoia and Erica Sequencer to a dedicated 1x84 skiff for when I want to “plan” pieces, and keep the Bloom in the 2x84 rack for spacing out.

I’m thinking I might flip the Erica Delay module again. It’s pretty wide and I could go to a smaller Noise Engineering Versio module.

Anyone have tips on running reverse delay sounds that don’t click at the cutoff? I’d probably reverse more things but I often hear the dry note attack as a click when the reverse delay sound comes to the end of the wet delay line. I’m more sure if that’s the nature of reverse or if I can work on a technique to compensate.

i think you need a 104hp skiff, just in case.

i noted your lurking mold (new band name?) status and actually looked around to see if you had posted elsewhere. ya know, wanted to see if you were okay.
Aw shucks.

Yeah, I've been fine, just haven't felt too active online, as it can tend to make my stress levels go up, especially around the election. But apart from going over my handlebars while biking at night in 30 degree weather last week, things are great!

Mostly trying to recalibrate my brain for the next album so it doesn't take another five years.

Not sure if it's a question of "technique" or just me being insensitive to that click :) but fwiw I often run the reverse delay into a short reverse reverb, which both softens any transients that might be leftover and gives the whole sound a bit more directional ambiguity.

happy to hear everything is alright on your end, I was getting worried I would never get those big fat royalty checks from you.

Dude, you shoulda gotten enough royalty checks to at least buy a Moog One. Maybe I put the wrong contact info in there.

Actual total royalties made from the entire album, thus far: $0.99.

It’s more than my 0.48 cents from SOCAN (ascap equivalent in Quebec)
I got from yearly tracking of my old bands streaming.
Was holding out for a vintage Moog Model D.

The new minis just came out and they're only 5k USD. Few more album sales should do it.

I think I'll actually do a bit better on the ASCAP, given that ridiculous strange month I had at Soma where I was actually in the top 10 for a while. Problem is ASCAP's distribution schedule is sloooow. I'll see my first payment in Feb. The other royalties were from CD baby getting it from the streamers.

For no particular reason

@emjazz - Listing to In Motian. The first minute of intro on that track is great. Not sure why it stands out to me but that slide around 1:18 is fantastic.
Man, that really means so much. Thank you for listening, man. It was a real challenge to get that made during the pandemic last year. Rehearsals kept falling apart (never happened) and the original piano player had to back out a week before. So happy that we pulled it all together (in a day!). Really happy to have it out in the world. So thank you!!

So I am on my first transatlantic trip since 2019. I walk into a conference on Music and AI and what’s playing, but Dennis Martensson? In related news, like an idiot I put my jacket in the checked luggage…so I walked to the venue this morning with no jacket….

You can't argue with results.

wondering if the click is on the initial attack? if it is, you’re getting $hit in, $hit out (not a value judgement).
