It’s that exact reason I want it.
Can resist very hot/cold temperatures and humidity.
So I can bring it along to our camper and keep my « chops » well oiled up.

I really need to follow this rule. I had a few I was ready to put on the block this month but now I’ve gotta get some unexpected things sorted out first.

My new desk arrived. I’ll finish assembly today and get the gear situated.

Hoping to jam on an idea or two and hit record soon.

i would definitely do some research on this brand. afaik, all carbon fiber is not created equal. iirc, i've read that some delaminate or whatever.

you could go robbie shakespeare and get a steinberger. the new ones are pretty inexpensive (graphite? carbon? dunno). the vintage are up there, but looks like there are some deals to be had.

looks like there are also folks who licensed some of that stuff. i'm not really up on how that all works with materials.

Apropos of nothing, but bass through the drive on the Doepfer A-120 is pretty nice.

I forgot to mark the boxes I made “guaranteed.” No wonder they all got returned.

Love the lifetime warranties on things from companies that have near-zero chance of being around for a lifetime. Even better is when you gotta jump through so many hoops to claim the warranty that you might as well but a new one. Not always the case, but it can be.

Wow, y'all have been pretty productive when I was away. I have returned from the Yucutan unharmed, with 4 more Mayan ruins under my belt (as well as a swim in the jungle in one of the canals they dug), and a bunch of other great experiences, as well as back with less money. Got food poisoning on day 2, but recovered, but my wife got the flu on the last 3rd and is still sick.

Great experience, overall, except for the few days in Tulum on the beach, which was like being on an episode of the Kardashians. Never seen so many fake, self-obsessed people. But actual Mexicans were awesome.

Unfortunately, almost everywhere we stayed had some sort of constant noise level, so my bad ear is not cooperating. Really can't wait to get back on the synths and basses (the next album is starting to take form), but I think I need to have a few more days of Vermont winter silence before that can happen. But the fretless is coming along well!

I own two Modulus Graphite basses. One was purchased brand new (custom made/ordered for me) in 1988 from the original Modulus Graphite company. The other I picked up second-hand.

Both basses developed problems with their carbon fiber necks.

Since I was the original owner of the first bass -- and (here's the critical part) since at the time the problem developed Modulus was still the same corporate entity and therefore respected the Lifetime Warranty, the repair was performed at no charge.

Since I was not the original owner of the second bass and since at the time the problem developed the newly-resurrected Modulus Graphite company was a wholly different corporate entity from the one that had originally built that bass, I was SOL. Beaucoup bucks to get it fixed.

Elapsed time between repair #1 and repair #2: 10 years.

So yeah, Captain Obvious says "Buyer Beware" ...and Second Lieutenant Not-So-Obvious reminds you that "carbon fiber is not 100% without issues, especially after a few years."
