seems like this process has been a good one for you.
i think it’s interesting how having a (daily) task/goal can make you examine what you’ve done and then focus on different possibilities out of that. (at least that’s my interpretation/bias based on my experience.)

Thanks @steubig ! You're right. I focus on different things each day. I"m treating it as a learning experience. I'm also finding issues in my system and patching and dare I say an occasional gear need. I could really use a Tachometer and my ES-8 seems to have loose jacks.

Well. 2023 has given me a push towards my gear purge plans. My car was stolen and I’m not too confident it’ll be recovered. Time to start looking at new cars with higher insurance rates and registration fees. Time to replace and refresh. The car will be the start of this process.

Well. 2023 has given me a push towards my gear purge plans. My car was stolen and I’m not too confident it’ll be recovered. Time to start looking at new cars with higher insurance rates and registration fees. Time to replace and refresh. The car will be the start of this process.

Thanks gang. It’s actually something that could work out to my “benefit” in the long run. I happened to be looking at a new car anyway, so an insurance payout might save me the trade-in negotiation. Still, living in Los Angeles without a car is an annoyance. Fortunately, insurance will pay for a rental and nothing of value was in the car aside from a death metal compilation CD.

My roof is still leaking a bit - it's pretty frustrating - but then I realize that I'm lucky I have a roof to leak. We also haven't lost power yet though I know many others have. We are getting a break from this bomb cyclone here in the SF Bay Area but it's gonna start up again on Saturday...
That’s some madness right there. Good luck weathering the storm. Keep your gear elevated and wrapped in plastic.
That’s a good idea! Actually my house is raised so I’m not worried about flooding, but water can come in from above too…
I had a section of my living room that leaked on and off for years. The landlord eventually found the source and had it properly patched, but I still refuse to put my gear anywhere near that area. Only my sofa gets placed there. It’s been raining heavily and everything is still bone dry, but the electronics aren’t worth risking.
