That was pretty cool.

I decided I'm going to commit to signing up for next month's event even though right now I don't have any concrete idea of what I'd specifically do (if they turn me down, so be it...but I'm going to put something together). So my goal is to get a 15-20 minute set together over the course of the next few weeks and leave myself the last week to practice it. I've never performed in front of people in any capacity so this will be uncharted waters (again, assuming they even let me).
Well I haven't actually accomplished anything yet! That’s fantastic! Way to go.

27136736[/URL], member: 340182"]Last night I went to a modular open mic of sorts organized by the folks at WMD. Even though the audience turnout was great, the WMD guy who was MCing mentioned that they were wanting for performers (the first guy was performing for the first time and the second guy for his second time). is it standard procedure to talk about the gear after your set in that event?
if its a master class, maybe I could understand, but at a gig…..nope….i’m going for a walk for fresh air to wait for the next act.
speaking only for myself here, I could easily do without that part.
imo, ymmv…..
my grumpy 2 cents.

did see that part, if its part of the get together, all good.my take is that this event is more a monthly show-and-tell about modular stuff than a “proper gig.” the mc asked the questions (at least of the guy with the gloves), no?
Yeah it's standard procedure. It's organized by modular nerds for modular nerds, and definitely not a formal "gig." More of a hang out, open mic type of vibe. I found the explanations interesting, particularly because I still have so much to learn so gleaning these bits of information is helpful for me. And even though it may not be a proper "gig," something like this is probably the only chance I'll ever get to perform in front of people...I don't see myself ever being wanted for a proper gig type of event.is it standard procedure to talk about the gear after your set in that event?

but where’s the Chase Bliss trio?
That's all in my other pedalboard(s) and getting reconfigured (yet again) for relocation back to the Arizona digs. Pics to follow shortly.
No standard loop pedal??Well, here it is: This (plus a couple basses, one guitar, and a DAW that I hate) is all the music gear I'll have at my disposal from February through June.
Hopefully I can make some compelling music -- or mayhem -- while in exile.

Since I'm not taking the Klein Bottle nor the flip-flop pedals I'll have to make some decisions about what order everything goes in...already starting to think I'll want the SansAmp elsewhere, and maybe swap positions of the Flashback and the Blooper. Also the volume pedal is kinda awkward to get at when it's so close to those other pedals. Meh...
No standard loop pedal??

Sorry I thought you always had a ditto or rc1 type looper in that huge board.I'm not even sure what that means, LOL!
The tc Flashback does remedial looping (with an infuriating lack of control) but the Blooper can also function just like a dumb Ditto.

Ya , the ditto would totally be overkill.Correct, I have a Ditto on the huge board. But I'm taking none of that stuff back to AZ.

Last minute modular jam tonight. Buddy popped by and we made some horrendous noise for an hour. There were some fun moments. Mostly just searching for sounds and noodling around. Jamming in this context definitely has me considering a few module changes/additions. My main “want” is an envelope with cv over the stages and an EOC output (Instruo makes one). The ADSR envelope is fine for musical music but frustrating for noise exploration. Regardless, fun was had![]()
