hmmm yeah. looking at the v2 Dispatch Master. might have to try one.
thats what im thinking too. i just never seem to keep ehx pedals, and ive tried many. maybe i can rent one from a music store nearby.

I think i may try something similar with a couple sample/hold effects and or phrase samplers. I have two Jamman Solos, and have been looking into newer delay/reverb options. such as upgrading my Dispatch Masters (i have two) from v1 to v2. or revisiting my lust for an Eventide Blackhole.

A piece I worked on is finally public! I'll use it as an opportunity to say more about myself - in addition to being a bassist/musician, I'm also a Buddhist minister - I try not to espouse my extra-musical views here and don't intend to start - hopefully the symbols in the video won't freak anyone out - but it's also a part of who I am and informs my music and my identity.
This piece is an idea I've had for a long time. We use a lot of acronyms, whether for our various organizations or to express Buddhist concepts. So I took one of them and used them as the harmonic basis for a piece of music. The repeating pattern is supposed to be "BCA" but I had tuning issues with my synths & sequencer, so it's actually something like C C# A# (I think - I'm not too knowledgeable harmonically) - I had to run with it because I was running out of time! My setup is pretty anachronistic - no standard keyboard readily available - I had to detune my bass so that I could play along! Well, I could have played along in standard tuning, but wanted that main note to be the open string.
It was fun - the base track is the Doepfer MAQ 16/3 sequencing my Moog Sirin (going through my Japanese Space Echo) and also sending clock to the DFAM & Subharmonicon. The video of me playing bass is video of the actual performance, but I had some issues syncing the video - it ended up kinda rushed! So I'm glad I was able to do anything! I usually have issues with procrastination, but when it's something I want to do somehow it works out...

I was listening to a bunch of modern gothy music today while driving and really digging the synth sounds. Some of these bands just kill it when it comes to sound design. If I were to find myself in a goth club I would be the most awkward, out-of-place dude in there, a total square. But damned if some of this music doesn't kill it.
Not that any of this stuff has to do with ambient bass or thge kind of Berlin School electronic music I'm into, but I dig it and the synth sounds are totally relevant.
It also has me gassing for a good polyphonic synth, mainly a string machine.

I was never cool enough to be goth the first couple of times it came around either, but I appreciated a lot of it.
I always assume that I'm not going to like newer bands, especially if they are popular enough for out-of-touch-with-today's-yoof me to have heard of. I had guessed Boy Harsher was going to be whatever the current equivalent of nu-metal or screamo is (if there is one). Also I nope out of a lot of bands within seconds of hearing their vocals. So this was a nice surprise.
A couple of similar-ish groups I stumbled across a couple years ago: Void Vision, Figure Study.

Check out Real Synthetic Audio. It’s available as a podcast and has YouTube posts. Quite the variety of modern synth driven goth-to-industrial (EBM, synth pop, etc.) bands get exposure, and it’s more of a DJ playlist with some narration than an interview/discussion podcast.

Thanks! I really appreciate that people listen to my music. For some reason I felt a little insecure about this one, but I've gotten some nice feedback on it. It was definitely fun to conceive and develop, though a little frustrating as well. But maybe that's part of the magic - the bed track was one of many playthroughs, adjusting the various parameters of the Sirin, Subharmonicon, & Space Echo in real time. Listening back, I realized I had forgotten that I put my Moogerfooger phaser on the DFAM - thought, "I should have adjusted the phaser rate" but realized I was juggling a bunch of other parameters simultaneously!
I realized I took a picture, I think soon after I was done recording (though I had already switched the power off so no lights!)
(Oh yeah, also realized that it's probably B# C# A# - I think B# is a better representation of the note, even though it's enharmonic with C)

I hear ya. Part of me thinks I'll never get rid of the Ct5 just for it's reverse 8va delay. Part of me thinks that's a stupid reason to hang on to a pedal that can do so much more, but that is infuriatingly resistant to my intuiting how to access & use that "so much more"
as i always say, for me, ct5 = micro looper; transcendence mode makes it pretty easy and interesting to create little bits that can fit nicely into “something”
